Joyous Living Senior Housing Project
Joyous Living senior housing project () is a scheme being planned and developed by the non-governmental and nonprofit Hong Kong Housing Society, the second largest public housing provider in Hong Kong. The project is targeting wealthy retired individuals, and fills up market gap for one-stop worry free retirement living for the middle class but has attracted criticism for its high price. Two senior housing sites are located in Hong Kong: Tanner Hill Project and Wetland Park Road Project, which will provide around 1,600 non-subsidized independent living for middle class seniors in Hong Kong. Both sites will provide homes of 500 to 1,300 square feet for long-term lease, not for sale. The Hong Kong Housing Society or Housing Society for short, is the second largest public housing provider in Hong Kong (the first being the Hong Kong Housing Authority). The Society housed around 130,000 residents as of 2020. North Point is a mixed-use urban area in the Eastern District, Hong Kong, Eastern District of Hong Kong. Tanner Hill Estate () was a rental housing estate for low-income families on Tanner Road, North Point, Hong Kong, developed by the Hong Kong Housing Society. Background The estate consisted of two blocks, Yellow Stork House and Pine Tree House, which were built in 1960 and 1961 respectively. It was originally called Shu Kuk Street Government Low Cost Housing Estate (), but it was later renamed to Tanner Hill Estate to avoid confusion with North Point Estate. In 1996, the Hong Kong Housing Society announced the redevelopment plan of Tanner Hill Estate. Tanner Hill Estate was demolished in the nineties. Hong Kong Wetland Park is a conservation, education and tourism facility, located at the northern part of Tin Shui Wai, in Yuen Long. It was to be an ecological mitigation area (EMA) for the wetlands lost due to Tin Shui Wai New Town development. The Hong Kong Wetland Park comprises a visitor centre, Wetland Interactive World, and a Wetland Reserve. The New Territories is one of the three main regions of Hong Kong, alongside Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. It makes up 86.2% of Hong Kong's territory, and contains around half of the population of Hong Kong.
