Journeys School
Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools (formerly Journeys School) is a Pre-K through 12th grade independent school affiliated with Teton Science Schools. History Teton Science Schools operate in partnership with Grand Teton National Park and were founded in 1967 when Ted Major, a high school biology teacher, led twelve high school students on six weeks of field research in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The organization began offering outreach programs to regional public and independent schools in 1991, developing what would eventually be formalized as the Journeys Curriculum. Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools was officially established as an independent school and a program of Teton Science Schools in 2001. The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational philosophy and pedagogy focused on preschool and primary education. This approach is a student-centered and constructivist self-guided curriculum that uses self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. The programme is based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration, discovery and play. At the core of this philosophy is an assumption that children form their own personality during the early years of development and that they are endowed with "a hundred languages", through which they can express their ideas. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the United States. In the 2018-2019 school year, 2.27 million high school sophomores and 1.74 million high school juniors took the PSAT.
