Spanish Fighting Bull
The Spanish Fighting Bull is an Iberian heterogeneous cattle (''Bos taurus'') population. It is exclusively bred free-range on extensive estates in countries where bullfighting is organized. Fighting bulls are selected primarily for a certain combination of aggression, energy, strength and stamina. In order to preserve their natural traits, during breeding the bulls rarely encounter humans, and if so, never encounter them on foot. History of the breed Some commentators trace the origins of the fighting bull to wild bulls from the Iberian Peninsula and their use for arena games in the Roman Empire.Fraser, Evan & Rimas, Andrew.Beef: The Untold Story of How Milk, Meat, and Muscle Shaped the World.'Harper Collins, London 2009 Although the actual origins are disputed, genetic studies have indicated that the breeding stock have an unusually old genetic pool. The aggression of the bull has been maintained (or augmented, see above) by selective breeding and has come to be popula ...

Stud (animal)
A stud animal is a registered animal retained for breeding. The terms for the male of a given animal species (stallion (horse), stallion, bull, rooster, etc.) usually imply that the animal is intact—that is, not Castration, castrated—and therefore capable of siring offspring. A specialized vocabulary exists for de-sexed animals (gelding, Cattle#Terminology, steer, etc.) and those animals used in grading up to a purebred status. Stud females are generally used to breed further stud animals, but stud males may be used in crossbreeding programs. Both sexes of stud animals are regularly used in artificial breeding programs. A stud farm, in animal husbandry, is an establishment for selective breeding using stud animals.Taylor, Peter, Pastoral Properties of Australia, George Allen & Unwin, Sydney, London, Boston,1984 This results in artificial selection. Stud fees A stud fee is a price paid by the owner of a female animal, such as a horse or a dog, to the owner of a male animal f ...

Plaza De Toros De Acho
The Plaza de Toros de Acho is the premier bullring in Lima, Peru. Located beside the historical center of the Rímac District, the plaza is classified as a national historic monument. It is the oldest bullring in the Americas and the second-oldest in the world after La Maestranza in Spain (not counting the Roman Empire-era Arles Amphitheatre in France). It has a seating capacity of 13,700 and was constructed of adobe and wood, both traditional materials. History In 1765, Agustín Hipólito de Landaburu sought permission to construct what he called "a fixed plaza for the corridas de toros" that would take place in Lima during the city's celebration of Carnival. The plaza would be constructed in the Rímac district on a site that had been used for several temporary bullrings since 1754. The site was called “el Hacho,” a Quechua word meaning “elevated place with vie ...
