José Costa (footballer, Born 1953)
José Alberto Barroso Machado e Costa (born 31 October 1953) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a left winger, and is a manager. In 15 Primeira Liga seasons – 16 as a professional in total – he amassed totals of 301 matches and 37 goals in representation of four teams, mostly Porto. Subsequently, he embarked in a lengthy managerial career. Playing career Club Costa was born in Porto. Still as a junior, he made his professional – and Primeira Liga – debut with Académica de Coimbra, playing 12 first-team games in an eventual relegation and contributing with 18 and two goals in an immediate promotion back; he spent a portion of the summer of 1977 on loan with the Rochester Lancers of the North American Soccer League. António Lima Pereira
António José Lima Pereira (1 February 1952 – 22 January 2022) was a Portuguese footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Born in Póvoa de Varzim, Lima Pereira started playing professionally for hometown club Varzim, making his Primeira Liga debut in the 1976–77 season at the age of 24. Two years later he signed with Porto, where he would remain for the following 11 campaigns. Lima Pereira appeared in 265 competitive games during his spell at the Estádio das Antas, winning four national championships, two domestic cups and four Supercups. He also reached the final of the 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup as his team lost to Juventus 2–1. Aged already 34/35, he was also part of the team's victorious campaign in the European Cup in 1986–87, although he did not play in the final against Bayern Munich due to injury. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The 1983–84 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup was won by Juventus in a final against Porto. The next year, the club went on to complete a full complement of European trophies with the European Cup. The 1984 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was a football match contested between Juventus of Italy and Porto of Portugal. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. António Luís Alves Ribeiro de Oliveira (born 10 June 1952) is a Portuguese former football attacking midfielder and manager. As a player, he notably represented two of the Big Three in his country, Porto and Sporting, amassing totals of 267 matches and 99 Primeira Liga goals between the two and also later managing the former club with great success. Also an international player, Oliveira had two coaching spells with the Portugal national team, leading them in one World Cup and one European Championship. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
