José Antonio Garrido
José Antonio Garrido Lima (born November 28, 1975 in Barakaldo, Basque Country) is a Spanish professional road bicycle racer and guitar player. He currently rides for the UCI ProTour team Quick Step-Innergetic. Since turning professional in 1999, Garrido has achieved several top ten placings in Spanish stage races, including a fourth place, and wins in the combination competition and of stage 2, in the 2003 Clásica de Alcobendas. He recently joined the Portuguese LA MSS - Póvoa do Varzim. He was also the rhythm guitarist of Spanish band Dark Moor during their self-titled album. Barakaldo ( es, Baracaldo; eu, Barakaldo ) is a municipality located in the Biscay province in the Basque Country. Located on the Left Bank of the Estuary of Bilbao, the city is part of Greater Bilbao, has a population at 100,881. The Volta a Catalunya (; en, Tour of Catalonia, es, Vuelta a Cataluña, link=no) is a road bicycle race held annually in Catalonia, Spain. Vuelta Asturias is a professional cycle road race held in Spain in early May each year. The event was first run in 1925 but has not been held consistently until 1968 to present. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. On 25 April 2014, the Vuelta Asturias was suspended one week before its start due to the lack of funds and sponsors. The Volta a Portugal ( en, Tour of Portugal), also known as Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta ( en, Tour of Portugal on Bicycle), is an annual multi-stage road bicycle racing competition held in Portugal. The competition takes place during a two-week span. History The competition started in 1927, although its second edition only occurred in 1931. In 1936 and 1937 the tour did not take place. During World War II the race was cancelled between 1942 and 1945. In 1975 the competition was skipped due to the Carnation Revolution.
