José Alonso (February 6, 1917August 27, 1970) was an Argentine politician and trade-unionist. Early life José Alonso was born in the Montserrat section of Buenos Aires, in 1917. The son of a Spanish tailor, he dedicated himself to the same profession, and was first elected as a union delegate of the tailors in 1938. Alonso initially supported socialism and Alfredo Palacios, but balked from the Socialist Party of Argentina in his support for the populist Colonel Juan Perón, Secretary of Labor of Pedro Pablo Ramírez' military government in power since June 4, 1943. On March 23, 1943, Alonso created the SOIVA (''Sindicato de la Industria del Vestido de la Capital Federal'', Trade-Union of Clothing Industry of Capital Federal) textile trade-union to counter the influence of the communist ''Federación Obrera del Vestido'' (FOV, Workers' Federation of Clothing). José María Alonso de Areyzaga (24 March 1890 – 4 March 1979) was a Spanish male tennis player. He competed in the Tennis at the 1920 Summer Olympics – Men's singles, singles event at the 1920 Summer Olympics in which he lost in the first round to Ichiya Kumagae. With his brother Manuel Alonso Areizaga, Manuel Alonso he competed in the Tennis at the 1924 Summer Olympics – Men's doubles, men's doubles event at the 1924 Summer Olympics and reached the quarterfinal. With his brother he reached the quarterfinal of the doubles event at the 1924 Wimbledon Championships. José Antonio Alonso Suárez (28 March 1960 – 2 February 2017) was a Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician, cabinet minister and judge. He was born in León. A jurist (judge since 1985 after graduating from the University of Leon, magistrate 1989 and criminal court judge with the provincial court in Madrid) and academic at the Law Faculty of the University of Leon before his political career, Alonso was elected to the Spanish Congress as a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party in 2004, representing León Province and was re-elected in 2008. He later served as spokesman for the PSOE Parliamentary Group. From 18 April 2004 to 7 April 2006 he was the Minister of the Interior in the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
