Joshua Baker
Joshua Gabriel Baker (March 23, 1799 – April 16, 1885) was the List of Governors of Louisiana, 22nd Governor of Louisiana during Reconstruction Era, Reconstruction. Early life Joshua was born March 23, 1799 in Mason County, Kentucky. His father was Joshua Baker and his mother was Susan Lewis. In 1803, the Baker family moved to the Mississippi Territory and by 1811 they had settled at Oaklawn Manor, Oaklawn Plantation in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, in the Territory of Orleans Baker attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York from 1817 to 1819. Whereupon, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Artillery Corps and served as an assistant professor at West Point before resigning in October 1820. In 1821, he moved to Litchfield, Connecticut, to study law, joining the bar in Mason County, Kentucky, in 1822. Albert Voorhies
Albert Voorhies (January 23, 1829 – January 20, 1913) was the 10th Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana. He was Lieutenant Governor under James Madison Wells from March 4, 1865 – June 3, 1867. He was a pro-slavery Southern Democrat and often at odds with the pro- suffrage, anti-slavery, Radical Republican Wells. Green-Wood Cemetery is a cemetery in the western portion of Brooklyn, New York City. The cemetery is located between South Slope/ Greenwood Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Kensington, and Sunset Park, and lies several blocks southwest of Prospect Park. Its boundaries include, among other streets, 20th Street to the northeast, Fifth Avenue to the northwest, 36th and 37th Streets to the southwest, Fort Hamilton Parkway to the south, and McDonald Avenue to the east. The New York State Senate is the upper house of the New York State Legislature; the New York State Assembly is its lower house. Its members are elected to two-year terms; there are no term limits. There are 63 seats in the Senate. Partisan composition The New York State Senate was dominated by the Republican Party for much of the 20th century. Between World War II and the turn of the 21st century, the Democratic Party only controlled the upper house for one year. Anthony Abraham Van Bergen (1786 – December 27, 1859) was an American politician and judge from New York. Early life Van Bergen was the only child of New York State Senator Peter A. Van Bergen and Hester ( née Houghtaling) Van Bergen (1768–1824) and they lived in Catskill, New York. After his father's death in 1814, his mother remarried to Dr. James Oliver in 1811. Andrew Johnson
Andrew Johnson (December 29, 1808July 31, 1875) was the 17th president of the United States, serving from 1865 to 1869. He assumed the presidency as he was vice president at the time of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Johnson was a Democrat who ran with Lincoln on the National Union ticket, coming to office as the Civil War concluded. He favored quick restoration of the seceded states to the Union without protection for the newly freed people who were formerly enslaved.
