Josh West (politician)
Josh West (born September 19, 1976) is an American politician, and military veteran who has served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives since 2017, representing the 5th district. Early life West was born on September 19, 1976 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. However, he was raised in Grove, Oklahoma. In 1995, West graduated from Grove High School. He then attended Missouri Valley College on a football scholarship. Military service In 1996, West began training for the US Army. He graduated in 1997. During his combat service, he was deployed to multiple locations, mainly in Afghanistan and Iraq. On October 16, 2003, West was injured in a firefight in Karbala, Iraq. During the firefight, multiple members of his team were killed, including his battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Kim Orlando. At the time Orlando was the highest ranked soldier to die during the Iraq War. During the fighting, West was shot in both legs and in his abdomen. Oklahoma House Of Representatives
The Oklahoma House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its members introduce and vote on bills and resolutions, provide legislative oversight for state agencies, and help to craft the state's budget. The upper house of the Oklahoma Legislature is the Oklahoma Senate. The Oklahoma Constitution established the powers of the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1907. Global War On Terrorism Service Medal
The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOT-SM) is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was created through Executive Order 13289 on 12 March 2003, by President George W. Bush. The medal recognizes those military service members who have supported operations to counter terrorism in the War on Terror from 11 September 2001, to a date yet to be determined. Previously awarded for the broadly defined awarding criterion of "support duty", the GWOT-SM is no longer a quasi-automatically awarded medal similar to the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), whereas the GWOT-SM is awarded after thirty days of post-training active service. The Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) is a United States Army special skills badge first created on June 18, 1965. This badge is the non-combat equivalent of the Combat Medical Badge (CMB) and is awarded to U.S. military personnel and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military personnel who successfully complete a set of qualification tests, including both written and performance portions. The EFMB is known for its adherence to its testing standards and, as such, requires strict attention to detail from candidates in order to receive a "GO" on its combat testing lanes.
