Josh Mauga
Joshua Mauga (born June 20, 1987) is a former American football linebacker. He was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Nevada. His surname Mauga translates to mean Mountain from Polynesian languages. Early years Mauga was born in Fallon, Nevada. He graduated in 2005 from Churchill County High School where he earned All-State and All-region honors. He was also the top heavyweight wrestler in the state of Nevada. College career Mauga was named to ''The Sporting News'' All-Freshman team in 2005 after play all season games and notched 32 tackles. In 2006 was second on the team with 56 tackles and also intercepted 3 passes. He moved from outside linebacker to the inside linebacker position in that year. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. 2008 Humanitarian Bowl
The 2008 Humanitarian Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game between the Maryland Terrapins and the Nevada Wolf Pack on December 30, 2008. It was the two teams' first meeting. The game featured two conference tie-ins: the University of Maryland represented the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the University of Nevada represented the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
