Joseph St. Denis
Joseph Alfred Saint-Denis (January 14, 1870 – April 8, 1966) was an Ontario farmer, businessman and political figure. Edmond Proulx
Edmond Proulx (May 21, 1875 – December 26, 1956) was an Ontario lawyer and political figure. He represented Prescott in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member from 1904 to 1921 and in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as an Independent Liberal from 1923 to 1929. He was born in Saint-Hermas, Quebec in 1875, the son of Isidore Proulx and Philomène Lalande, and grew up in Plantagenet, Ontario. Proulx studied at the Collège Bourget in Rigaud, Quebec, the University of Ottawa, St. Michael's College, Toronto and Osgoode Hall. He articled in Ottawa and Toronto, was called to the bar and set up practice in L'Orignal in 1904. He was elected to the House of Commons in the general election later that year after the death of his father. In 1907, he married Renée Audette. Aurélien Bélanger (March 18, 1878 – February 12, 1953) was an Ontario political figure. He represented Russell in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal and Independent Liberal from 1923 to 1929 and Prescott as a Liberal from 1934 to 1948. He was born in Sainte-Scholastique, Quebec in 1878, the son of Zotique Belanger, and studied at the Université Laval. Bélanger was a professor at the University of Ottawa, school inspector for Russell County, director of bilingual schools for the city of Ottawa and president of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Ottawa. He married Alida, the daughter of Télesphore Rochon. Hawkesbury is a Franco-Ontarian city in United Counties of Prescott and Russell, Prescott-Russell county in Eastern Ontario, Eastern Ontario, Canada. The vast majority of its 10,550 inhabitants are Francophone Canadians, francophone. The Long-Sault Bridge links it to Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Quebec, Grenville, Quebec to the north. Vankleek Hill, Ontario
Vankleek Hill is a town in Champlain Township in Eastern Ontario. It has a population of 1,996. The town was named after Simeon Vankleek, a United Empire Loyalist who settled there near the end of the 18th century. The agricultural-based community became a thriving community in the 1890s and still retains many of the buildings and structures of the time. As such it is called the gingerbread (the wood carvings on the eaves of one's roof) capital of Ontario. History Simeon Van Kleeck and his wife Cecilia Jaycox arrived in Nova Scotia from the former British Province of New York in 1783. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province.
