Joseph Karth
Joseph Edward Karth (August 26, 1922 – May 29, 2005) was a U.S. Representative from Minnesota. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Born in New Brighton, Ramsey County, Minnesota; all four of his grandparents were German immigrants. He attended public schools and the University of Nebraska School of Engineering; interrupted his education during the Second World War to serve in the United States Army, with service in the European Theater of Operations; employed by the Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company; international representative of OCAW-AFL-CIO 1947–1958; member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, 1950–1958; elected as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party to the 86th, 87th, 88th, 89th, 90th, 91st, 92nd, 93rd, and 94th congresses, (January 3, 1959 – January 3, 1977); was not a candidate for reelection to the 95th Congress in 1976; established a consulting firm; died on May 29, 2005, in Scottsdale, Arizona , settlement_type ... The United States Congress is the legislature of the federal government of the United States. It is bicameral, composed of a lower body, the House of Representatives, and an upper body, the Senate. Bruce Vento
Bruce Frank Vento (October 7, 1940 – October 10, 2000) was an American politician, a Democratic-Farmer-Labor member of the United States House of Representatives from 1977 until his death in 2000, representing . Early life Vento was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and was educated at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis, where he received his BA in 1961. He later, in 1965, received a B.S with honors, from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. He was a public school teacher in St. Paul, Minnesota prior to entering politics. Career Vento served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1971 until 1976 before entering the House. Vento is recognized for his efforts in cleaning the environment and promoting affordable housing. Minnesota's 4th congressional district covers nearly all of Ramsey County, and part of Washington County. It includes all of St. Paul, and most of its suburbs. The district is solidly Democratic, with a CPVI of D+14. It is currently represented by Betty McCollum, of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL). Eugene Joseph McCarthy (March 29, 1916December 10, 2005) was an American politician, writer, and academic from Minnesota. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959 and the United States Senate from 1959 to 1971. McCarthy sought the Democratic presidential nomination in the 1968 election, challenging incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson on an anti–Vietnam War platform. McCarthy sought the presidency five times but never won. Born in Watkins, Minnesota, McCarthy became an economics professor after earning a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. He served as a code breaker for the United States Department of War during World War II.
