Joseph Grima (architect)
Joseph Grima is a British architect, critic, curator and editor. He is the creative director of Design Academy Eindhoven and co-founder of the design research studio, Space Caviar. Career Grima graduated from Architectural Association in 2003 and then became the curator of the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk Istanbul Design Biennial and the director of Chicago Architecture Biennial. He also became the director of the Ideas City festival at New Museum. In 2011, Grima became the editor-in-chief of Domus, and stayed on till 2013. He has also been Director of Storefront for Art and Architecture, NYC and the Artistic Director of Matera; European Capital of Culture 2019. Brackets
A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. Design Academy Eindhoven
Design Academy Eindhoven is an interdisciplinary educational institute for art, architecture and design in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The work of its faculty and alumni have brought it international recognition, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading design schools. History The Design Academy Eindhoven was established in 1947 and was originally named the Academie voor Industriële Vormgeving (AIVE). The first nine students graduated in 1955. In 1997, the Academy moved into " De Witte Dame" (The White Lady) building and subsequently changed its name to Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE). Chicago Architecture Biennial
The Chicago Architecture Biennial is an international exhibition of architectural ideas, projects and displays. It seeks "to provide a platform for groundbreaking architectural projects and spatial experiments that demonstrate how creativity and innovation can radically transform our lived experience." Founded in 2014, the biennial is managed by a charitable corporation under the auspices of the city's Cultural Affairs department, and sponsored by public and private organizations and individuals. Expositions The first of its kind in North America, the inaugural iteration of the biennale took place in Chicago between October, 2015 and January, 2016, and was headquartered at the Chicago Cultural Center. Its first directors were Sarah Herda and Joseph Grima. New Museum
The New Museum of Contemporary Art, founded in 1977 by Marcia Tucker, is a museum in New York City at 235 Bowery, on Manhattan's Lower East Side. History The museum originally opened in a space in the Graduate Center of the then-named New School for Social Research at 65 Fifth Avenue. The New Museum remained there until 1983, when it rented and moved to the first two and a half floors of the Astor Building at 583 Broadway in the SoHo neighborhood. ''Domus'' is an architecture and design magazine founded in 1928 by architect Gio Ponti and Barnabite father Giovanni Semeria. Published by Editoriale Domus, the magazine is issued 11 times a year on a monthly basis and has its headquarters in Rozzano, Milan.
