Joseph-Émery Phaneuf
Joseph-Émery Phaneuf (February 14, 1863 – August 9, 1935) was a Quebec provincial politician during the first half of the 20th century. Born in Saint-Hugues, Quebec Saint-Hugues (; ) is a town in southwestern Quebec north northeast of St-Hyacinthe, with a 2006 population of 1,310. It is located along Quebec Route 224, halfway between Saint-Guillaume and Saint-Simon-de-Bagot. He was one of the founding partners of the Group Commerce Insurance companies and a director of these French Canadian insurance companies until his death. Legislative Assembly Of Quebec
The Legislative Assembly of Quebec (French: ''Assemblée législative du Québec'') was the name of the lower house of Quebec's legislature from 1867 to December 31, 1968, when it was renamed the National Assembly of Quebec. At the same time, the upper house of the legislature, the Legislative Council, was abolished. Both were initially created by the Constitution Act, 1867. It was the Union Nationale government of Premier Jean-Jacques Bertrand that passed the "Bill 90" legislation to abolish the upper house, but earlier attempts had been made by earlier governments. The presiding officer of the Assembly was known in French as ''orateur'', a literal translation of the English term, ''speaker''. When the Assembly was renamed so too was the title of its presiding officer, becoming known as the President. Today, Quebec has a unicameral legislature, whose single house is the National Assembly. Bagot (provincial Electoral District)
Bagot was a former provincial electoral district in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. It elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec (earlier known as the Legislative Assembly of Quebec). It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed even earlier: see Bagot (Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1970. It disappeared in the 1973 election and its successor electoral district was Johnson. Frédéric-Hector Daigneault (May 19, 1860 – February 26, 1933) was a Canadian provincial politician. Born in Chambly, Canada East, Daigneault was a member of the Municipal Council for Acton Vale, Quebec for 10 years. He was mayor from 1905 to 1914 and from 1916 to 1918. Cyrille Dumaine
Cyrille Dumaine (July 8, 1897 – October 11, 1946) was a Canadian politician from Quebec. He was born on July 8, 1897 in Saint-Hugues and was a notary. Member of Parliament Dumaine successfully ran as a Liberal Party of Canada candidate for the Bagot district in a 27 January 1930 by-election. He was re-elected there in the 1930 federal election. He did not run for re-election in the 1935 election. Provincial politics He ran as a Liberal Party of Quebec candidate in the 1935 election for the district of Bagot and won. He was re-elected in the 1936 election, but his election was cancelled and he lost the subsequent by-election against Union Nationale candidate Philippe Adam. Johnson is a provincial electoral district in 3 regions of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. *Centre-du-Québec (It includes part of the city of Drummondville, Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Wickham) *Montérégie ( Acton Vale) *Estrie (Roxton Pond, Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton).
