Josep Llunas
Josep Llunas i Pujals (January 30, 1852–May 23, 1905) was a Catalan libertarian and free-thinker from Spain. He was a typesetter by profession, but he also studied music and singing and was a theatrical director. Of special significance in this regard was his role as secretary of the ''Catalan Athenaeum of the Working Classes'', a proletarian cultural center which promoted a type of scientific anarchism. Reus
Reus () is the capital of Baix Camp, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. The area has always been an important producer of wines and spirits, and gained continental importance at the time of the Phylloxera plague. Nowadays it is known for its commercial activity, for being a centre for rock-climbing and as the birthplace of architect Antoni Gaudí. Name The origin of the name is a source of discussion. One of the theories is that Reus comes from the Latin word used to describe convict prisoners (''reus''), and as such, it would be a Roman penitentiary. The proletariat (; ) is the social class of wage-earners, those members of a society whose only possession of significant economic value is their labour power (their capacity to work). A member of such a class is a proletarian. Marxist philosophy considers the proletariat to be exploited under capitalism, forced to accept meager wages in return for operating the means of production, which belong to the class of business owners, the bourgeoisie. Anarchism in Spain has historically gained some support and influence, especially before Francisco Franco's victory in the Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939, when it played an active political role and is considered the end of the golden age of classical anarchism. Mutualism, also known as the movement of mutuals and the mutualist movement, is a social movement that aims at creating and promoting mutual organizations, mutual insurances and mutual funds.
