Josef Johann Mann
Josef Johann Mann (19 May 1804 – 20 March 1889), or Johann Josef Ritter von Mann, was a German Bohemian entomologist and a specialist in Lepidoptera. Mann was born in Jablonné v PodjeÅ¡tÄ›dÃ, Bohemia (present-day Czech Republic). He was a painter, expedition collector and preparator at the Hofkabinet in Vienna, Austria. Jablonné v PodjeÅ¡tÄ›dà (until 1946 NÄ›mecké Jablonné; german: Deutsch Gabel, until 1901 ''Gabel'') is a town in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,700 inhabitants. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Alois Friedrich Rogenhofer
Alois Friedrich Rogenhofer (22 December 1831, in Vienna – 15 January 1897, in Vienna) was an Austrian entomologist. He was a curator at the Naturhistorisches Museum in Vienna, where he was the first keeper of the Lepidoptera. Rogenhofer was mainly interested in Lepidoptera, and Hymenoptera. Beside him Josef Mann (1804-1889) worked as a keen technician and collector for the benefits of the museum. Mann described many species of Lepidoptera new to science focussing on Microlepidoptera. Bohemia
Bohemia ( ; cs, Čechy ; ; hsb, Čěska; szl, Czechy) is the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech Republic. Bohemia can also refer to a wider area consisting of the historical Lands of the Bohemian Crown ruled by the Bohemian kings, including Moravia and Czech Silesia, in which case the smaller region is referred to as Bohemia proper as a means of distinction.
