Jose Delgado (politician)
Jose Delgado was a lawyer and politician from Cebu, Philippines who became mayor of Cebu City (1940–1942) and the governor of the province of Cebu (1943–1944), becoming the first person to have held both offices. Background Jose Delgado's parents were Marcelo Enriquez and Monica Delgado. After becoming a lawyer on October 15, 1923, he was appointed as mayor of Cebu City on August 3, 1940 upon the resignation of Vicente Rama who was running for the senatorial seat in the elections to be held on November 11, 1941. Delgado served as mayor until April 10, 1942, and he was replaced by Juan Zamora. During World War II, he served as the governor of Cebu from 1943 until 1944, although scholars had a hard time determining the start and end of his term, as well as the terms of Hilario Abellana and Jose S. Jose Leyson
Jose S. Leyson (1900–1945) was a Filipino Visayan lawyer and politician from Cebu, Philippines. He was appointed by the Japanese forces to serve as governor of the province of Cebu during World War II. His death occurred before the end of the World War II, and the whereabouts of his remains are unknown. Early life Jose Leyson, born in 1900, was married to Lourdes Velez. He attended Colegio de San Carlos (now University of San Carlos), acquired a law degree at the University of the Philippines, and became a lawyer on November 15, 1923. Career He worked as general manager of Cebu Transit Company, a bus company in operation before the war. Hilario Abellana
Hilario "Dodong" Abellana (October 23, 1896 – January 15, 1945) was Filipino Visayan lawyer, politician and legislator from Cebu, Philippines. He was the municipal president of Cebu (1922), a member of the House Representative (1934–1935), a two-term member of the National Assembly (1935–1941), and governor of Cebu province during World War II (1941–1943). After his escape and eventual captivity, he was executed by the Japanese Imperial Army and the resting place of his remains is still unknown. Vicente Rama
Vicente Rama (June 6, 1887 – December 24, 1956) was a Filipino Visayan legislator, publisher, and writer from Cebu, Philippines. Recognized as the Father of Cebu City, he authored the bill for its cityhood which was approved into law by October 20, 1936. He also founded the leading pre-war Cebuano periodical, '' Bag-ong Kusog''.
