Joris Willem Eelco Tjebbes (5 November 1929, in Vlissingen – 31 July 2001, in Hoogeveen) was a Dutch freestyle swimmer. Kees Hoving
Kees Hoving (1919 – 1991) was a Dutch swimmer who specialized in the 100m freestyle event. He won the 1938 European Aquatics Championships with a time of 59.8 seconds, becoming the first Dutch male athlete to win a European swimming title and to swim 100 meters within one minute. After that he did not compete internationally, except for the 1947 European Aquatics Championships, due to World War II and later due to a conflict with his swimming club. However, he won the national championships in 1937, 1938, 1941, 1946 and 1948, and set eight national records between 1937 and 1946. Hoogeveen
Hoogeveen (; nds-nl, 't Ogeveine or '' 't Oveine'') is a municipality and a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Population centres Elim, Fluitenberg, Hoogeveen and Noordscheschut, which still have the canals which used to be throughout the town. Other villages of the town are Hollandscheveld, Nieuw Moscou, Nieuweroord, Nieuwlande, Pesse, Stuifzand and Tiendeveen. History Hoogeveen dates its history to 20 December 1625, when Roelof van Echten bought a large tract of peat land from farmers of the district with the plan to harvest its peat. LEN European Aquatics Championships
The European Aquatics Championships is the continental Aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN—the governing body for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years (in even years); and since 2022, they have included 5 aquatics disciplines: Swimming (long course/50m pool), Diving, Synchronised swimming, Open water swimming and High diving. Prior to 1999, the championships also included Water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships. The open water events are not held during the Olympic year. The Championships are generally held over a two-week time-period in mid-to-late Summer; however, in the most recent Summer Olympics years (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), the Championships were moved to the Spring to be moved away from the Summer Olympic Games.
