Joris Ponse
Joris Ponse (March 1723, Dordrecht - December 1783, Dordrecht) was a Dutch painter primarily of birds, fruit, and flowers. Ponse was a scholar of Aert Schouman. He passed through many vicissitudes, being at one time reduced to gain a livelihood by house-painting. In middle life he was established at Amsterdam, where he had some pupils, among them Arie Lamme. His pictures are very scarce. Dordrecht (), historically known in English as Dordt (still colloquially used in Dutch, ) or Dort, is a city and municipality in the Western Netherlands, located in the province of South Holland. It is the province's fifth-largest city after Rotterdam, The Hague, Zoetermeer and Leiden, with a population of . Aert Schouman
Aert Schouman or Aart Schouman (4 March 1710 – 5 July 1792) was an 18th-century painter, now better known as a glass engraver, from the Dutch Republic. Schouman was born in Dordrecht. When 15 years old he served as apprentice to the Dordrecht artist Adriaan van der Burg, along with Cornelis Greenwood, the son of his teacher for glass engraving, Frans Greenwood,Aart Schouman in the inventor of the stipple style, which Schouman also worked in. Schouman was unusual among painters in that he kept a detailed diary of his professional life from 16 October 1733 to 16 November 1753. Arie Lamme
Arie Lamme (8 January 1748 – 18 March 1801) was a Dutch landscape painter and poet. Early life and education Lamme was born at Heerjansdam and studied under Joris Ponse at Utrecht; he practiced in the style of Aelbert Cuyp. He was much engaged on decorative work, and was also a poet. His daughter Cornelia married the painter Johann Baptist Scheffer and was the mother of Ary and Hendrik Scheffer. He died in Dordrecht, aged 53.
