Jorge Holguín
Jorge Marcelo Holguín Mallarino (30 October 1848 – 2 March 1928) was a Colombian politician and military officer, two time Acting President of Colombia: June–August 1909 as interim president, and from November 1921 to August 1922. Marco Fidel Suárez (April 23, 1855 – April 3, 1927) was a Colombian political figure. He served as president of Colombia from 1918 to 1921. Julio Arboleda Pombo
Julio Arboleda Pombo (9 June 1817, Barbacoas, Colombia – 1862) was a Colombian poet, journalist, and politician. He was also a prominent slave owner, and led a failed rebellion in 1851 with the aim of preventing the abolition of slavery in the country. Biography He was educated in Europe and on his return to Colombia engaged in journalism. In the various Colombian revolutions he was a liberal Conservative and more than once declined the vice-presidency of the republic. María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar (born 13 November 1963) is a Colombian politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia from 2010 to 2018. She has also served as the 25th Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations, and as Ambassador of Colombia to Venezuela. The Colombian Civil War of 1895 (Spanish: La Guerra civil de 1895) was a conflict that took place in the Republic of Colombia in the late nineteenth century, then formed by the current countries of Colombia and Panama. Causes The late nineteenth century was a period of instability in Colombian politics, with six civil wars fought between 1851 and 1895. The Colombian Civil War of 1876 (also called War of the Schools) was a civil war in the United States of Colombia (present-day Colombia) that went on from 1876 to 1877. The causes of the war date back to approximately 1870, when members of the Colombian Liberal Party led by the Liberal radical Eustorgio Salgar attempted to introduce public education for the Colombian states, while the Colombian Conservative Party advocated for putting education solely under the control of the Roman Catholic church.
