Jorge Gandini
Jorge Osvaldo Gandini Astesiano (born 5 May 1958) is a Uruguayan politician of the National Party, who currently serves as Senator of the Republic since 2020. He previously served as National Representative from 2005 to 2020 and as its president from 2018 to 2019. Early life and education Jorge Gandini Astesiano was born on May 5, 1958, in the Aires Puros neighborhood of Montevideo, the eldest son of a newsstand and a public official, both supporters of the Colorado Party. He attended School Israel and Liceo 21. He studied law at the University of the Republic, however he dropped out in his fourth year. Political career Gandini became a member of the National Party while he was studying at university during the campaign for the 1980 constitutional referendum. 2024 Uruguayan General Election
General elections will be held in Uruguay on 27 October 2024. If no presidential candidate receives a majority in the first round of voting, a runoff will take place on Sunday 24 November 2024. María Laura Raffo Degeronimi (born 22 September 1973) is a Uruguayan economist, businesswoman and politician of the National Party (Uruguay), National Party (PN). Álvaro Luis Delgado Ceretta (born 11 March 1969) is a Uruguayan veterinarian and politician of the National Party (PN), who served as the 18th Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic from 2020 to 2023. Luis Alberto Aparicio Alejandro Lacalle Pou (; ''Luis Lacalle'' locally or ; born 10 August 1973) is a Uruguayan politician and lawyer serving as President of Uruguay since 1 March 2020. Son of former president Luis Alberto Lacalle, Lacalle Pou attended The British Schools of Montevideo and graduated from Catholic University of Uruguay in 1998 with a law degree. 2019 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on Sunday, 27 October 2019 to elect the President and General Assembly. As no presidential candidate received a majority in the first round of voting, a runoff election took place on 24 November. In the 2014 elections, the left-wing Broad Front had won a third consecutive election with absolute majorities in both houses of the General Assembly. The Broad Front's term in office еarned support through the creation of a large welfare system, but at the same time was undermined by an increasing budget deficit, along with rising unemployment and a spike in violence.
