Jordanian Progressive Party
Jordanian Progressive Party (Arabic: الحزب التقدمي الأردني, ''Al-Hizb al-Taqadumiu al-'Urduniyu'') is a Jordanian political party. The party emerged from a split in the Jordanian People's Democratic Party, parallel to the split in the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine over the Oslo Accords, Oslo Agreements. The founders of the Jordanian Progressive Party sided with Yasser Abd Rabbo in the split. The party was registered with Jordanian authorities in 1993. The general secretary of the party is Fawaz Mahmood Muflih Zou′bi, MP. Na′el Emran Barakat is the deputy general secretary. The party publishes ''al-Huriyyah''. Jordan ( ar, الأردن; tr. ' ), officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,; tr. ' is a country in Western Asia. It is situated at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, within the Levant region, on the East Bank of the Jordan River. Jordanian People's Democratic Party
Jordanian Democratic People's Party ( ar, حزب الشعب الديمقراطي الأردني ''Hizb Al-Sha'ab Al-Dimuqrati Al-Urduni'', HASHD), is a communist party in Jordan. HASHD was formed in 1989, when the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine separated their branch in Jordan to become a separate party. HASHD publishes the weekly newspaper ''Al-Ahali''. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP; ar, الجبهة الديموقراطية لتحرير فلسطين, ''al-Jabha al-Dīmūqrāṭiyya li-Taḥrīr Filasṭīn'') is a secular Palestinian Marxist–Leninist organization. It is also frequently referred to as the Democratic Front, or al-Jabha al-Dīmūqrāṭiyya (). It is a member organization of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Alliance of Palestinian Forces and the Democratic Alliance List. The group maintains a paramilitary wing called the ''National Resistance Brigades''. Jordan has 34 different political parties, but apart from the oppositional Islamic Action Front and neutral Jordanian National Youth Party, none of them play a real role because of lack of organization and clear political platforms. The role of parties is significantly limited by institutional factors as well. The king is vested with somewhat broader executive power than is usually the case for a constitutional monarch, making it difficult for a party to win control of the government solely at the ballot box.
