Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum
The Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum ( sq, Liceu Artistik Jordan Misja) is an artistic school in Tirana, Albania, for youth from 6 to 18 years old. Established in 1946, it included music, ballet, dramatic arts, painting and sculpting classes. Today it offers integrated studies of general classes and arts, music, and sculpture classes. Most Albanian professional artists are alumni of the school. History The Artistic Lyceum was established in 1946 and was given the name of World War II People's Hero Jordan Misja, who had been a painter. For several decades it was the only artistic high school in Albania. It used to have five departments: Theoretical, Canto, Dramatic Arts, Choreography, and Figurative Arts (with several specialties). Resurrection Cathedral, Tirana
The Resurrection Cathedral () is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is considered among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans. It was officially opened on June 24, 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Albanian Orthodox Church and the election of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. Mustafa Krantja
Mustafa Krantja (10 April 1921 – 4 January 2002) was an Albanian classical music conductor and composer. He has written about 20 major works. Feim Ibrahimi
Feim Ibrahimi (1935–1997) was an Albanian composer born on 20 October 1935 in Gjirokastër, southern Albania. Essentially self-taught in his early years, he became the first significant Albanian composer to study exclusively in his home country, entering the newly founded Tirana Conservatory in 1962 and studying there with Daija until 1966. He then taught composition, counterpoint and harmony at the conservatory (1966–73), subsequently serving as vice-director of its parent body, the Superior Institute of Arts (1973–7). His most significant post was as music secretary of the Union of Albanian Writers and Artists (1977–91); he later also served as director of the Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Tirana (1991–92). Avni Mula
Avni Mula (Gjakova, 4 January 1928 – Tirana, 29 October 2020) was an Albanian singer, composer, and musician. For his contribution to the arts, he received two of the highest awards from the Albanian government: the People's Artist of Albania decoration and the Honor of the Nation () decoration. Personal life Mula's family moved from Gjakova, Kosova to Shkodër, Albania, when he was young, and after World War II, he moved to Tirana, Albania. Tish Daija
Tish Daija (Shkodër, 30 January 1926 – 3 October 2003) was an Albanian composer. He composed the first Albanian ballet ''Halili dhe Hajria'' (Halili and Hajria) that premiered on 13 January 1963 and has since been shown more than 250 times at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania, a record for the Albanian Theatre. He has also composed ''Spring'' (" Pranvera"), an Albanian opera. Tish Daija is an alumnus of the Moscow Conservatory. Nexhmedin Zajmi
Nexhmedin Zajmi (4 March 1916 19 May 1991) was an Albanian painter and sculptor. Early life and education He was born in a village close to Trebisht, Peshkopi. Zajmi studied at the Qemal Stafa High School in Tirana and in 1931 he graduated in agriculture from the technical school in Tirana, where he discovered his artistic talents. The next phase of his education took place at art school, where he studied with sculptor Odhise Paskali. In 1939, he went to study at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, in Rome, Italy, where he obtained his diploma in 1943. During the following year he remained in Italy, returning to Albania towards the end of 1944. Sadik Kaceli
Sadik Kaceli (14 March 1914 – 24 December 2000) was an Albanian artist. He studied in Paris at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1936–1941). Kaceli is one of Albania's best known painters, receiving many decorations as People's Artist of Albania and the Honour Citizen of Tirana medal. He created the first series of the Albanian lek. In 2016 Sadik Kaceli was given thHonour of Nation Order.
