The Jordan Davis Cup team represents Jordan in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Jordan Tennis Federation. Jordan currently compete in the Asia/Oceania Zone of Group IV. Jordan ( ar, الأردن; tr. ' ), officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,; tr. ' is a country in Western Asia. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. The most successful countries over the history of the tournament are the United States (winning 32 titles and finishing as runners-up 29 times) and Australia (winning 28 titles, including six with New Zealand as Australasia, and finishing as runners-up 19 times). Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. 1989 Davis Cup
The 1989 Davis Cup (also known as the 1989 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 78th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. This year's tournament saw the expansion of the previous World Group Relegation Play-offs round into the World Group Qualifying Round; instead of advancing directly to the World Group, the Zonal Group I winners would now join the World Group first round losers for a chance to compete in the following year's World Group. This year also marked the introduction of the tiebreak, played at 6–6 in all sets except for the final set. 79 teams would enter the competition, 16 in the World Group, 14 in the Americas Zone, 19 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 30 in the Europe/Africa Zone. The 1993 Davis Cup (also known as the 1993 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 82nd edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 100 teams would enter the competition, 16 in the World Group, 22 in the Americas Zone, 23 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 39 in the Europe/Africa Zone. Abedallah Shelbayh (also known as Abdullah Shelbayh; born 16 November 2003) is a Jordanian tennis player. Shelbayh has a career high ATP singles ranking of 469 achieved on December 12, 2022, making him the first Jordanian tennis player to achieve a world rank. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of 927, achieved on November 8, 2021. He has a career high ITF juniors ranking of 27 achieved on 12 July, 2021. Muhammad ( ar, مُحَمَّد; 570 – 8 June 632 CE) was an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of Islam.
