Pieter Christiaan Joon (born February 4, 1942, Amsterdam) founded the World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) in 1980 in the Netherlands. He was the president of this organization from 1980 to 2001. The General Assembly of the WOVD, in a meeting on 27 October 2001 in Slovenia, decided to award him the title of ''Honorary President''. Major Rajiv Kumar Joon, AC, SC was a highly decorated Officer in the Indian Army. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peace-time military decoration. He was previously decorated with the Shaurya Chakra, the third-highest peacetime military decoration.
