Jones Valley, Huntsville
Jones Valley is an urbanized valley and region of Huntsville, Alabama. The community is bordered by Monte Sano Mountain and Green Mountain to the east and Waltons Mountain to the west. Jones Valley houses a variety of homes, ranging from mid-century houses to mountaintop estates. A park called Jones Farm Park sits adjacent to Carl T. Jones Drive. It contains miles of walking trails and two ponds. The Ledges, a private golf club and gated community, is also located in Jones Valley. History The area was founded by Carl T. Jones, who purchased a 2,500 acre farm in 1939. Although much of that land has been developed, 33 acres have been preserved and opened to the public as the Jones Farm Park. Huntsville, Alabama
Huntsville is a city in Madison County, Limestone County, and Morgan County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat of Madison County. Located in the Appalachian region of northern Alabama, Huntsville is the most populous city in the state. Huntsville was founded within the Mississippi Territory in 1805 and became an incorporated town in 1811. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. It is a type of gazetteer. It was developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names (BGN) to promote the standardization of feature names. Monte Sano Mountain
Monte Sano Mountain is a mountain located in Huntsville, Alabama. The name ''Monte Sano'' is Spanish for "Mountain of health". This name comes from the fact that curative health resorts used to be located on the mountain to take advantage of the fresh air, clean water, and cooler temperatures. The top is relatively flat and lies just under 500 meters above sea level. This elevation is about 300 meters higher than the floor of the Tennessee River, Tennessee Valley, which surrounds it. A residential neighborhood occupies the western portion of the top. The eastern portion and slopes of the mountain are occupied by Monte Sano State Park. Huntsville City Schools
Huntsville City Schools is the school district serving Huntsville, Alabama. As of the 2016–17 school year, the system had 24,083 students and employed 1,697 teachers. The district oversees 36 schools: 21 PreK-elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 7 high schools, and 2 magnet schools. The school system finished the 2010 fiscal year with a debt of nearly $20 million the largest of any school system in Alabama by a significant margin. However, after Casey Wardynski was appointed superintendent, he worked to erase the school system's debt and bring the budget into surplus.
