Jonathan Wyatt
Jonathan Craig Wyatt (born 20 December 1972) is a New Zealand runner. He is a six-time world mountain running champion and an eight-time winner of the world mountain running grand prix series. Running career Wyatt competed in the men's 5,000 metres at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, reaching the final, and finished sixth in the men's marathon race at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He is a two-time Olympian, competing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the 5,000 metres and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the marathon. He holds the New Zealand national record in the 5K at 13:46, and is the former national record holder for the 10K and half marathon. Wyatt is a five-time winner of the Red Bull Dolomitenmann race. Post-running Wyatt works for athletic brand La Sportiva. He became president of the World Mountain Running Association council in 2017. Lower Hutt, New Zealand
Lower Hutt ( mi, Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai) is a city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. Administered by the Hutt City Council, it is one of the four cities that constitute the Wellington metropolitan area. It is New Zealand's sixth most populous city, with a population of . The total area administered by the council is around the lower half of the Hutt Valley and along the eastern shores of Wellington Harbour, of which is urban. Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. Sky Runner
Skyrunning is a sport of mountain running up to or exceeding where the minimum average incline is 6% over the total distance and at least 5% has an incline of 30% or more. The climbing difficulty does not exceed II grade UIAA. Poles, crampons and hands may be used to aid progress. The governing body is the International Skyrunning Federation. The sport comprises a number of different disciplines from the short, steep Vertical Kilometer to the more popular SkyRace and SkyMarathon. World Mountain Running Association
The World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) is the global governing body of mountain running. For World Athletics purposes, mountain running takes place on terrain that is mainly off-road, but if there is significant elevation gain on the route, surfaced roads may be used. Courses involve considerable amounts of ascent (for mainly uphill races), or both ascent and descent (for up and down races with the start and finish at similar heights). The average incline is normally between five and twenty per cent. Courses are clearly marked and should avoid dangerous sections.
