Jonathan Permal
Jonathan Olivier Permal (born 15 January 1994 in Flacq District) is a Mauritian track and field athlete competing in the 100 metres and 200 metres. At the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie, he won a bronze medal in the 200 m. He also reached the semifinals of both the 100 m and 200 m at the 2014 African Athletics Championships in Marrakech, Morocco. Permal is currently the third fastest Mauritian sprinter in the 200 m with a time of 20.85 seconds after Stephan Buckland's 20.06 and Eric Milazar Jean Éric Milazar (born June 1, 1975) is a Mauritian athlete competing in the 200 metres and 400 metres. The 2014 African Championships in Athletics was held in Marrakech, Morocco from 10 to 14 August 2014. The competition was the 19th edition of Africa senior championships. The competition served as preparation to African athletes for the next continental cup which is planned to hold on 13 and 14 September 2014 in Marrakech. Athletics At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Athletics was one of ten core sports that appeared at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. As a founding sport, athletics has appeared consistently since its introduction at the 1911 Inter-Empire Games; the recognised precursor to the Commonwealth Games. The competition took place between Sunday 27 July and Saturday 2 August at the temporarily modified Hampden Park, Scotland's national football stadium. The programme commenced with the 26.2 mile marathon, which started and finished at Glasgow Green and included numerous para-sport events throughout. Racewalking events were dropped from the programme for 2014 – a move condemned by walking athletes. The meet was dominated, in terms of golds won, by Kenya, Jamaica who won 10 gold medals apiece and Australia with eight gold medals, though gold and other medals were distributed among 21 teams, and England took away the most medals, 27 including 13 silver medals. 2013 African Junior Athletics Championships
The 2013 African Junior Athletics Championships was the eleventh edition of the biennial, continental athletics tournament for African athletes aged 19 years or younger. It was held at the Germain Comarmond Stadium in Bambous, Mauritius from 29 August – 1 September. A total of 223 athletes from 29 nations competed. Neither pole vault event was held, due to a lack of entries, and the decathlon and heptathlon competitions were also not contested. Originally scheduled to be held in South Africa, a dispute between Athletics South Africa and the national sports ministry resulted in the cancellation of holding rights in June 2013. Bambous, the 2009 host, stepped in at short notice to hold the event. The medal table was a closely contested affair. Nigeria had the most gold medals with nine in its haul of 19 medals.
