Jon Jacobsen (born 1961) is an American politician serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 22nd district. He was elected in a July 12, 2017 special election. Jacobsen is an attorney and a trust officer in a bank. Early life and education Jacobsen was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1961. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Creighton University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law. In law school, Jacobsen was the associate managing editor of ''The Journal of Corporation Law''. Career Jacobsen worked as a senior trust officer and vice president at Security National Bank. He also hosted ''Now You've Heard It All'' on KMA. He has been a member of the Pottawattamie County Republican Central Committee and the Iowa Right to Life Committee. KMA (960 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Shenandoah, Iowa. History The station was founded in 1925 by seed salesman Earl May. In 1925 Henry A. Field, owner of Field's Nursery in Shenandoah and a business rival of May, founded a competing radio station, KFNF. While both stations offered farm news, the two were to become most competitive by offering live productions of hillbilly music. According to KMA's website, more than a million people traveled to small-town Shenandoah to hear the music. May built the station headquarters and Mayfair Auditorium at the Mayfair Theatre (the theatre being closed in 1963, the studio demolished in 1964 due to its being declared structurally unsafe by the Iowa State Fire Marshall, and the entire building being demolished in 1966) across the street from the nursery business. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Greg Forristall
Gregory Forristall (February 15, 1950 – May 10, 2017) was an American politician who served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2007 until his death in 2017. Prior to his death, Forristall served on several committees in the Iowa House, including Human Resources, Transportation, and Ways and Means committees. He also served as the chair of the Labor committee and as a member of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee.
