Jolina Collins
''Jolina'' is the second studio album by Filipino singer and actress Jolina Magdangal released by Star Music on January 9, 1999. The album consists mostly of passionate, easy-listening love songs, a style of music quite popular in the Philippines. Five of the tracks on the album were originally used as soundtrack in various movies she starred to which include "Tameme" and "Sana'y Kapiling Ka" in the film '' F.L.A.M.E.S.: The Movie'' (1997), the re-recorded "T.L. Ako Sa'yo" and her cover of "Tulak Ng Bibig, Kabig Ng Dibdib" in ''Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo!'' (1998), and "Kapag Ako Ay Nagmahal" in '' Labs Kita... Okey Ka Lang?'' (1998). The only American song remake in the album is the studio recording of Anita Bryant-original "Paper Roses" which Magdangal sung on a drama anthology television program, Maalaala Mo Kaya. Maria Jolina Perez Magdangal-Escueta (; born November 6, 1978) is a Filipina singer, actress, television presenter, and entrepreneur. She is referred to in the Philippines as the Queen of Pinoy Popular Culture (or simply as Pop Icon) and is often regarded as one of the most successful multimedia artists in Philippine entertainment and is penned as the original Multimedia Superstar. Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo! () is a 1998 romantic-comedy and drama film released by Star Cinema directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng. It stars Maricel Soriano, William Martinez, Jolina Magdangal, and Marvin Agustin. The film was a reunion movie of Soriano and Martinez whose tandem was first seen in the drama film ''Oh, My Mama!'' (1981) but were popularized by romantic comedy films such as ''Galawgaw'' (1982) and ''I Love You, I Hate You'' (1983). Anita Jane Bryant (born March 25, 1940) is an American singer known for anti-gay activism. She scored four "Top 40" hits in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Paper Roses" which reached No. 5 on the charts. She was the 1958 Miss Oklahoma beauty pageant winner, and a brand ambassador from 1969 to 1980 for the Florida Citrus Commission. In the 1970s, Bryant became known as an outspoken opponent of gay rights in the U.S. In 1977, she ran the "Save Our Children" campaign to repeal a local ordinance in Miami-Dade County, Florida, that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. "Paper Roses" is a popular song written and composed by Fred Spielman and Janice Torre. It first was a top five hit in 1960 for Anita Bryant. Marie Osmond recorded it in 1973 and took her version to number one on the US country chart.
