John Starsmore
John George Starsmore (20 December 1901 – 1983) was an English footballer who scored 32 goals from 126 appearances in the Football League playing for Coventry City, Swindon Town and Barrow in the 1920s and 1930s. He also played in non-league football for Kettering Town and Dartford. He played as a centre forward or inside forward. Life and career Starsmore was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire, in 1901. He played non-league football for Desborough Town and Kettering Town before signing for Coventry City of the Third Division South in September 1928 for a "substantial" fee. He made his debut on 6 October, at home to Brentford, and scored the only goal of the match. He played regularly throughout the remainder of the 1928–29 season and at the start of 1929–30, but once Jimmy Loughlin established himself in the team, Starsmore made only five appearances in 1930, and left the club at the end of the season. Kettering is a market and industrial town in North Northamptonshire, England. It is located north of London and north-east of Northampton, west of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene. The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. This division was created in 1921 from the Third Division, formed one year earlier when the Football League absorbed the leading clubs from the Southern League. Kent Senior Cup
The Kent Senior Cup is an English football competition played between senior clubs in the county of Kent. It is administered by the Kent County Football Association. History The Kent Badge preceded the Kent Senior Cup, and was won in its three-year history by Chatham. This competition was replaced by the Kent Senior Cup in 1889. Between 1894 and 1897 the cup was awarded to the Kent League champions. Past winners of the Kent Senior Cup include Royal Arsenal (now Arsenal) in 1889–90, and Gillingham in 1945–46 and 1947–48; the two sides are now members of the Premier League and Football League respectively. The 2013–14 Kent Senior Cup marked the 125th anniversary year of the competition, with the first match having been played in 1889. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. Jimmy Loughlin
James Loughlin (9 October 1905 – after 1933) was an English footballer who scored 46 goals from 93 appearances in the Football League playing for Newcastle United, West Ham United, Coventry City and Darlington. Primarily a centre forward, he also played in Ireland for Dolphin and Bray Unknowns and in English non-league football for Darlington Railway Athletic, Worcester City and Northwich Victoria. Early career Loughlin was born in Darlington, County Durham, where he worked on the railway and played football for Darlington Railway Athletic. After a trial with Newcastle United, in which he scored for the club's North-Eastern League team, he signed as a professional in November 1924. He made his first-team debut on 27 December in a goalless draw away to Huddersfield Town in the First Division, on a pitch described by the ''Yorkshire Post'' as practically under water.
