John St John, 12th Baron St John Of Bletso
John St John of Northwood, 12th Baron St John of Bletso (15 November 1725 – 20 April 1767) was a British peer. St John was the eldest son of John St John, 11th Baron St John of Bletso and his wife Elizabeth Crowley, daughter of Sir Ambrose Crowley of Greenwich. He was educated at Winchester College and at New College, Oxford. He inherited the title of Baron St John of Bletso on the death of his father in 1757. St John died at the age of 41 at Nice but was buried at Bletsoe. St John married 13 December 1755 to Susanne Louise Simond, the daughter of Peter Simond, a wealthy French Huguenot merchant in London. She brought £20,000 to the marriage. John St John, 11th Baron St John of Bletso (died 24 June 1757) was an English peer. The son of Andrew St John and his wife Jane Blois, daughter of William Blois of Cockfield Hall, Suffolk, he was a nephew of Paulet St John, 8th Baron St John of Bletso and succeeded his brother Rowland St John, 10th Baron St John of Bletso to the family title in 1722. Lord St John married Elizabeth Crowley (the daughter of Ambrose Crowley) at Greenwich on 6 March 1725. Winchester College
Winchester College is a public school (fee-charging independent day and boarding school) in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 and has existed in its present location ever since. It is the oldest of the nine schools considered by the Clarendon Commission. The school is currently undergoing a transition to become co-educational and to accept day pupils, having previously been a boys' boarding school for over 600 years. The school was founded to provide an education for 70 scholars. Gradually numbers rose, a choir of 16 "quiristers" being added alongside paying pupils known as "commoners". Numbers expanded greatly in the 1860s with the addition of ten boarding houses. The scholars continue to live in the school's medieval buildings, which consist of two courtyards, a chapel, and a cloisters. Baron St John Of Bletso
Baron St John of Bletso, in the County of Bedford, is a title in the Peerage of England. It was created in 1582 for Oliver St John. For a period, the title Baron St John was subsumed within the title Earl of Bolingbroke which was granted to the fourth Baron. The Earldom died out with the third Earl, but the Barony continued via another branch which had since become the baronet line. The eldest son of the 1st Earl was advanced to the barony by Writ of acceleration under King Charles I to become the 5th Baron. However he died in the civil war without becoming Earl, This resulted in the existence of an additional baron in the sequence but this was not taken into account by the family when the barony was continued. Hence there is a discrepancy between the complete numbered series used by Burke and Debrett, and the numbering series in use by the family, particularly in the 18th and 19th century. St Andrew St John, 14th Baron St John of Bletso PC FRS (22 August 1759 – 15 October 1817) was an English politician who sat in the British House of Commons from 1780 until 1806 when he inherited a peerage. St John was born at Woodford, Northamptonshire, the son of John St John, 12th Baron St John of Bletso and his wife Susanna Louisa Simond, daughter of Peter Simond. He was educated by the Rev. John Skynner at Easton near Stamford. He was then admitted at Lincoln's Inn on 7 May 1773 and at St John's College, Cambridge in 1776. He was awarded MA in 1779 and was called to the bar on 29 January 1782. In 1780, St John was elected Member of Parliament for Bedfordshire. He was a personal friend of Charles James Fox, who supported him throughout his political career. He was Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to Lord North for a short time in 1783 but otherwise was generally very active in opposition.
