John Petersson (born 22 January 1970, Copenhagen, Denmark) is president of the European Paralympic Committee and a former swimmer from Denmark. He is also one of the 12 members of the International Paralympic Committee and he has been a member of the Danish Handicap-Federal Board of Directors since 2000. The European Paralympic Committee (EPC) is an international non for profit organisation which serves a membership of 49 National Paralympic Committees and 9 European branches of disability. Based in Vienna, Austria, the EPC was founded as the IPC European Committee, it was later registered as an independent entity in 1999.http://www.europaralympic.org/ The EPC is responsible for organising the European Paralympic Committee Youth Games. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Paralympic Games and functions as the international federation for nine sports.
