John Law (writer)
John Law (11 November 1929 – 5 January 1970) was a British comedy writer for television, who created the Class sketch for ''The Frost Report''. Life Law was born 11 November 1929, in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He married Beryl Kaye (1919–2010) a dancer and choreographer, and died 5 January 1970, aged 40. Work He wrote for many TV comedy series, including ''It's a Square World'' and ''The Frost Report'', working with Michael Bentine and Marty Feldman. He also worked on the screenplay for the James Bond spoof film ''Casino Royale (1967 film), Casino Royale'', having been recruited for this project by Peter Sellers. Class Sketch
The ''Class sketch'' is a comedy sketch first broadcast in an episode of David Frost's satirical comedy programme '' The Frost Report'' on 7 April 1966. It has been described as a "genuinely timeless sketch, ingeniously satirising the British class system" and in 2005 was voted number 40 in Channel Four's "Britain's 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches". It was written by Marty Feldman and John Law, and features John Cleese, Ronnie Barker, and Ronnie Corbett. Synopsis Cleese, tall and patrician in appearance and demeanour, represents the upper class; Barker, of average height, the middle class, and Corbett, short in stature, the working class. The Frost Report
''The Frost Report'' is a satirical television show hosted by David Frost. It introduced John Cleese, Ronnie Barker, and Ronnie Corbett to television, and launched the careers of other writers and performers. It premiered on BBC1 on 10 March 1966 and ended on 12 December 1967, with a total of 26 regular episodes over the course of 2 series and 2 specials as well. Cast and writers The main cast were Frost, Corbett, Cleese, Barker, Sheila Steafel, and Nicky Henson. Paisley ( ; sco, Paisley, gd, Pàislig ) is a large town situated in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It's A Square World
''It's a Square World'' is a British comedy television series starring Michael Bentine and produced by the BBC. It ran from 1960 until 1964, each episode being of 30 minutes duration. The series gained Bentine a BAFTA award in 1962 for Light Entertainment, while a compilation show, screened by the BBC in 1963, won that year's Press Prize at the Rose d'Or Festival in Montreux. The shows were devised and written by Bentine and John Law. Some sketches were released on an LP. Concept Using scale models, Bentine sank the Woolwich Ferry, sent a Chinese junk to attack the House of Commons (a sketch that was temporarily banned by the BBC as it was considered too political coming up to election time), and planted a forty-foot whale trying to enter the Natural History Museum. Marty Feldman
Martin Alan Feldman (8 July 1934 – 2 December 1982) was a British actor, comedian and comedy writer. He was known for his prominent, misaligned eyes. He initially gained prominence as a writer with Barry Took on the ITV sitcom ''Bootsie and Snudge'' and the BBC Radio comedy programme ''Round the Horne''. He became known as a performer on ''At Last the 1948 Show'' (co-writing the "Four Yorkshiremen sketch" which Monty Python would perform) and '' Marty'', the latter of which won Feldman two British Academy Television Awards including Best Entertainment Performance in 1969.
