John Harms (Nebraska Politician)
John N. Harms (born February 17, 1940) is a politician from the U.S. state of Nebraska. He served two terms in the Nebraska Legislature from 2007 to 2015. Harms is a former president of Western Nebraska Community College. Harms graduated from Morrill High School in 1958. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master of science degree in secondary education from Chadron State College and an Ed.D. in higher educational administration from Montana State University. He began his professional career as a high school teacher in Gering, Nebraska and served in a variety of educational positions culminating with the presidency of Western Nebraska Community College, a position he attained in 1976. In 2006, Harms retired from the college to run for the state legislature. He defeated Gering dentist George Schlothauer, winning 58% of the vote to Schlothauer's 42%. Adrian Smith (politician)
Adrian Michael Smith (born December 19, 1970) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2007. A member of the Republican Party, he represented the 48th district in the Nebraska Legislature from 1999 to 2007. Smith is the dean of Nebraska's congressional delegation. Early life and education Smith was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and at a young age moved with his family to a rural neighborhood south of Gering, Nebraska. After graduating from Gering High School in 1989, he attended Liberty University. He transferred to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln midway through his second year of college, graduating in 1993. John Stinner
John Stinner (born October 11, 1951) is an American politician from Nebraska. In 2014, he was elected to the Nebraska Legislature, representing District 48 which includes Scotts Bluff County. Stinner is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and career Stinner was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 11, 1951. In 1969, he graduated from Montour High School in the Pittsburgh area. He accepted an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; there, he was a member of the teams that won national championships in 1970 and 1971. In 1973, he obtained a B.S. in business administration; in 1976, an M.A. in economics. Chadron State College is a public college in Chadron, Nebraska, US. It is one of three public colleges in the Nebraska State College System. It has open admission and an acceptance rate of 100%. Scottsbluff is a city in Scotts Bluff County, in the western part of the state of Nebraska, in the Great Plains region of the United States. The population was 14,436 at the 2020 census. Gering is a city in, and the county seat of, Scotts Bluff County, in the Panhandle region of Nebraska, United States. The population was 8,564 at the 2020 census. History Gering was officially founded on March 7, 1887, being located at the base of the bluff that is now the center of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Although settled in 1886, Gering officially became a town in 1887 by a corporation headed by Oscar Gardner of Broken Bow, Nebraska and named for Martin Gering, a pioneer merchant with whom Gardner started the first dry goods store.
