John Dutton (politician)
John Dutton (1594 – 14 January 1657) of Sherborne Park, Gloucestershire was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons of England, House of Commons variously between 1624 and 1644. He supported the Cavaliers, Royalist side in the English Civil War. Dutton was the son of William Dutton, and was baptised on 5 October 1594. He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford and awarded BA on 26 October 1612. He entered Inner Temple in November 1613 to study law and was awarded Doctor of Civil Law, DCL in 1642. He succeeded his father in 1618. He was imprisoned for refusing to contribute ship money and in 1624 was Deputy Lieutenant for Gloucestershire. In 1624, Dutton was elected Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire (UK Parliament constituency), Gloucestershire and was re-elected in 1625. John Dutton (quarterback)
John Dutton (born September 20, 1975) is a former Arena Football League quarterback. He was drafted out of University of Nevada, Reno in the 6th round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. In 2005, he led the Crush to the ArenaBowl XIX title. In 2006, he was on the cover of the EA Sports first AFL video game, Arena Football, making him the first player to pose for the cover. He had been the backup quarterback for the San Jose SaberCats behind Mark Grieb. After Grieb's suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the year, Dutton quarterbacked the SaberCats to a 52–14 victory over the Arizona Rattlers in ArenaBowl XVI. He was named Offensive Player of the Game for his performance. In June 2009, Dutton was signed by the RiverCity Rage of the Indoor Football League. John Owen Dutton (born February 6, 1951) is a former football defensive lineman in the National Football League for the Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Nebraska. Early years Born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota, Dutton attended Cathedral High School, where the football team was undefeated in his junior year. After the school closed in the fall of 1968, he transferred to Central High School and led the Cobblers to the state Class A basketball title in his senior year (1969). Dutton was a two-time All-state selection in basketball and football. He received high school All-American recognition in both sports as a senior and was also an accomplished Discus thrower. John Dutton (trade Unionist)
John K. Dutton (11 June 1909''1939 England and Wales Register'' – 21 April 1985) was a British trade union leader. Dutton began his working life in a socialist bookshop. During World War II, he served with the London Fire Brigade, and became active in the Fire Brigades Union. In 1949, Dutton began working for the Association of Scientific Workers (AScW), and two years later he was appointed the union's deputy general secretary. He was elected as general secretary of the union in 1955. Clive Jenkins was elected as secretary of the Association of Supervisory Staffs, Executives and Technicians in 1960, and Dutton began negotiating a merger between the two unions. This was completed in 1969, forming the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs, with Dutton and Jenkins as joint general secretaries. Sir John Dutton, 2nd Baronet
Sir John Dutton, 2nd Baronet (1684–1743), of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, was a British landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1727 to 1734. Dutton was baptized on 2 January 1684, the eldest surviving son of Sir Ralph Dutton, 1st Baronet MP of Sherborne and his second wife Mary Barwick, daughter of Peter Barwick of London, who was physician in ordinary to Charles II. He was admitted at Middle Temple in 1701 at the expense of his grandfather, since his father had wasted away the family fortune. He married under a settlement of 17 June 1714, with £12,500, Mary Cullen, daughter of Sir Rushout Cullen, 3rd Baronet MP. She died in May 1719 and he married secondly (with £20,000) Mary Keck, daughter of Francis Keck of Great Tew, Oxfordshire on 1 June 1728. He succeeded his father in the baronetcy in 1721. Dutton Baronets
The Dutton Baronetcy, of Sherborne in the county of Dorset, was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on 22 June 1678 for Ralph Dutton, subsequently Member of Parliament for Gloucestershire. His son, the second Baronet, also represented Gloucestershire in Parliament. The title became extinct on his death in 1743. The late Baronet left his estates to his nephew James Naper, of Loughcrew, County Meath, eldest son of James Naper by Anne Dutton, daughter of Sir Ralph Dutton, 1st Baronet. The constituency of Gloucestershire was a UK Parliamentary constituency. After it was abolished under the 1832 Electoral Reform Act, two new constituencies, West Gloucestershire and East Gloucestershire, were created. John Baron Dutton, 2nd Baron Sherborne (24 January 1779 – 18 October 1862), was a British peer. Background Sherborne was the son of James Dutton, 1st Baron Sherborne, of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, by his wife Elizabeth Coke (1753–1824), daughter of Wenman Coke and Elizabeth Chamberlayne. According to the '' Legacies of British Slave-Ownership'' at the University College London, Dutton was awarded a payment as a slave trader in the aftermath of the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 with the Slave Compensation Act 1837. The British Government took out a £15 million loan (worth £ in ) with interest from Nathan Mayer Rothschild and Moses Montefiore which was subsequently paid off by the British taxpayers (ending in 2015). John Dutton Frost
Major-General John Dutton Frost, (31 December 1912 – 21 May 1993) was an airborne officer of the British Army best known for being the leader of the small group of British airborne troops that actually arrived at Arnhem bridge during the Battle of Arnhem in Operation Market Garden, in World War II. He was one of the first to join the newly formed Parachute Regiment and served with distinction in many wartime airborne operations, such as in North Africa and Sicily and Italy, until his injury and subsequent capture at Arnhem.
