John DeFrancisco
John A. DeFrancisco (born October 16, 1946) is an attorney and United States Republican Party, Republican politician who formerly represented New York's 50th State Senate district, District 50 in the New York State Senate from 1993 to 2018. Senate District 50 comprises Skaneateles (town), New York, Skaneateles, Pompey, New York, Pompey, Van Buren, New York, Van Buren, most of Onondaga County, and the western half of Syracuse, New York, Syracuse, among other communities located in Upstate New York. Early life, education, and military service John DeFrancisco graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York. DeFrancisco received his Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University, where he played college baseball, and later graduated from Duke University Law School. Stephanie Ann Miner (born April 30, 1970) is an American attorney, politician, and former Mayor of Syracuse, New York. Miner served as Mayor of Syracuse from 2010 to 2018, and is the first woman to have held that office. Prior to her mayoralty, she was a member of the Syracuse City Council. Marcus J. Molinaro (born October 8, 1975) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, Molinaro is the U.S. representative-elect for New York's 19th congressional district, and is currently serving his third term as county executive of Dutchess County, New York. Molinaro was previously a member of the Dutchess County Legislature and the New York State Assembly before being elected county executive for the first time in 2011. The 2018 New York gubernatorial election occurred on November 6, 2018. Incumbent Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo won re-election to a third term, defeating Republican Marc Molinaro and several minor party candidates. Cuomo received 59.6% of the vote to Molinaro's 36.2%. Cuomo defeated actress and activist Cynthia Nixon in the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Cuomo's running mate, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, outpolled New York City Councillor Jumaane Williams in the Democratic primary for the lieutenant governorship. Dean Skelos
Dean George Skelos (born February 16, 1948) is an American former politician from Long Island, New York. A Republican, Skelos served in the New York State Assembly and later represented the Ninth District in the New York State Senate from 1985 through 2015. He served as Senate Majority Leader in 2008 and again from 2011 to 2015. Skelos forfeited his Senate seat when he was convicted on federal corruption charges in 2015. In 2017, his conviction was overturned following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in ''McDonnell v. United States''. His retrial resulted in a second conviction on July 17, 2018. The ''Times Union'' is an American daily newspaper, serving the Capital Region of New York.
