John Daniel Davies

	John Daniel Davies John Daniel Davies (12 January 1874 – 9 April 1948) was a Welsh editor and author. He was from the Ponciau area of Denbighshire. He began his career as an apprentice of David Jones, printer, of Rhosymedre. He then worked for a while with Richard Mills who printed the ''Rhos Herald''. Sometime around 1900 he married, and moved to live in the Blaenau Ffestiniog area, where in 1906 he started the periodical ''Y Rhedegydd''. For many years he edited ''Yr Ymwelydd'', the Scottish Baptist periodical. He died in April 1948, and was buried in Bethesda cemetery, Blaenau Ffestiniog. 	Rhosymedre Rhosymedre () is a village within the community of Cefn, in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The Anglican church, which was consecrated in 1837, is dedicated to St John the Evangelist, and is part of the Diocese of St Asaph. Former vicars include John David Edwards (vicar from 1843 to 1885), whose most famous hymn tune composition is Rhosymedre, upon which Ralph Vaughan Williams later based an organ prelude. The quarry behind Rock Road was originally the source of stones for building the Llangollen Canal, and also the houses of the local mining community. Rhosymedre Halt railway station served the village from 1906 to 1959. Once a slate mining centre in historic Merionethshire, it now relies much on tourists, drawn for instance to the Ffestiniog Railway and Llechwedd Slate Caverns. It reached a population of 12,000 at the peak development of the slate industry, but fell with the decline in demand for slate. The population of the community, including the nearby village Llan Ffestiniog, was 4,875 in the 2011 census: the fourth most populous in Gwynedd after Bangor, Caernarfon and Llandeiniolen.
