John A. Coleman (born 9 August 1934) is a British conducting, conductor and music arranger. Coleman started his work as a conductor in 1968 in Val Guest's film Assignment K. He was music supervisor for the 1968 films ''The Strange Affair'' and ''Negatives (1968 film), Negatives'', and went on to become musical director for ''The Les Dawson Show'' (1979). Jean Henri Coleman (29 July 1908 – 21 May 1982) was a member of the British Special Operations Executive during World War II. Biography Coleman was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, the son of John Henry Coleman, an English banker, and Eugenie Eulalie Rime, originating from Switzerland. He married Deirdre Brownlow in 1943. Wartime exploits After the outbreak of the Second World War, Coleman escaped from France to the United Kingdom. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in October 1940 as a stoker. He took part in the Dieppe raid in 1942, and joined the Helford Flotilla until April 1943 when he was promoted to Sub-Lieutenant, RNVR. He then joined SOE with a codename "Victor". After several unsuccessful attempts, he was parachuted into France on 15 September 1943 and joined the Acolyte network around Lyons. John Stewart Coleman (October 15, 1934 – January 20, 2018) was an American television weatherman. Along with Frank Batten, he co-founded The Weather Channel and briefly served as its chief executive officer and president. He retired from broadcasting in 2014 after nearly 61 years, having worked the last 20 years at KUSI-TV in San Diego. Professional career Coleman started his career in 1953 at WCIA in Champaign, Illinois, doing the early evening weather forecast and a local bandstand show called ''At The Hop'' while he was a student at University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. After receiving his journalism degree in 1957, he became the weather anchor for WCIA's sister station WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. John Earl Coleman (26 March 1930 – 22 November 2012) was a teacher of Vipassanā (insight) meditation, a form of meditation in Theravada Buddhism. He was born in Tresckow, a mining town in Pennsylvania. After attending his studies, he entered the US Army in the 1950s and served in Korea during the war. Afterwards he joined the newly formed Central Intelligence Agency, and was stationed in Thailand in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He worked officially for the Southeast Asia (SEA) Supply Corporation, advisers to the government of Thailand, as a specialist in criminology. John Royston "Jack" Coleman (June 24, 1921 – September 6, 2016) was a labor economist, college and foundation president, television host, and author of ''Blue-Collar Journal''. Biography Jack Coleman was born in the town of Copper Cliff, Ontario, Canada, on June 24, 1921, the second of three children of Richard Mowbray Coleman and Mary Irene Lawson. His uncle was Major-General Sir Charlton Watson Spinks, the last Sirdar of Egypt. Coleman served on active duty in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in World War II, rising to the rank of commander. Shortly after being invited to officer school, he married Mary Norrington Irwin (1922–2011), an artist and writer who was the daughter of William Andrew Irwin and granddaughter of John Fletcher McLaughlin, both academics. John William Coleman (11 June 1862 – 8 January 1905) was an Australian politician. He was born near Lismore to sawyer Edmund Coleman and Charlotte Downs. He attended the local public school before becoming a storekeeper. In 1882 he married Elizabeth Rachel Marshall Ventnam; they had four children. He served as a Lismore alderman from 1890 to 1892, from 1893 to 1896 and from 1900 to 1901. In 1901 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as an independent Liberal, representing the seat of Lismore. He was elected for Rous as an endorsed Liberal in 1904, but died in January 1905 at Marrickville.
