John Brownlee (baritone)
John Donald Mackenzie Brownlee (7 January 190010 January 1969) was an Australian operatic baritone. For most of his professional career he was based in Europe and then the United States. Biography John Brownlee was born in Geelong, Victoria. As a boy, he became a junior naval cadet in the Royal Australian Navy, serving during World War I. Following service, he studied accounting. He entered a singing contest in Ballarat, winning first prize even though he had never had a lesson. Several singing engagements followed. One of these, a performance of ''Messiah'', was attended by Nellie Melba, who convinced him to go to Paris for serious study with Dinh Gilly. His debut took place at Covent Garden on 8 June 1926, in the performance of ''La bohème'' in which Melba made her farewell appearance. John Brownlee (basketball)
John Brownlee is an American former professional basketball player. Brownlee played college basketball for North Carolina (1981–1983) and Texas (1984–1986). He played professionally in France and Belgium. College Brownlee played his first two years of college basketball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He played just 13 games in his freshman year, averaging 0.7 points per game. In his sophomore season, however, he played 33 games and averaged 1.3 points per game as the designated back up to center Sam Perkins as the Tar Heels won the 1981–82 NCAA Men's Basketball championship. He then transferred to The University of Texas at Austin. He played 28 games in his third season of college basketball, averaging 13.8 points per game. In his final year, he took part in 31 games for the Longhorns and led the team in scoring with a 17.0 points per game average. This earned him the 1986 Southwest Conference Player of the Year. John Brownlee (statistician)
John Brownlee (1868–1927) was a British physician and medical statistician who became the first director of the Statistics Department of the UK's Medical Research Committee. Life The son of a Church of Scotland minister, he studied at the University of Glasgow, obtaining degrees first in mathematics and natural philosophy and then in medicine. He became in 1900 physician-superintendent to the City of Glasgow Fever Hospital. In 1914 he became the founding director of the statistics department of the UK Medical Research Committee and held the post until his sudden death from bronchopneumonia in 1927. Works Brownlee was influenced by Karl Pearson's mathematical approach to statistics, and applied the Pearson family of distributions to epidemics. The Edinburgh Academy is an Independent school (United Kingdom), independent day school in Edinburgh, Scotland, which was opened in 1824. The original building, on Henderson Row in the city's New Town, Edinburgh, New Town, is now part of the Senior School. John Edward Brownlee
John Edward Brownlee, (August 27, 1883 – July 15, 1961) was the fifth premier of Alberta, serving from 1925 until 1934. Born in Port Ryerse, Ontario, he studied history and political science at the University of Toronto's Victoria College before moving west to Calgary to become a lawyer. His clients included the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA); through his connection with that lobby group, he was involved in founding the United Grain Growers (UGG). After the UFA entered electoral politics and won the 1921 election, new premier Herbert Greenfield asked Brownlee to serve as his attorney-general. Brownlee agreed and was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in a by-election in the riding of Ponoka. As attorney-general, he was an important member of Greenfield's government. John Lasarus Williams (29 October 1924 – 15 June 2004), known as John L, was a Welsh nationalist activist. Williams was born in Llangoed on Anglesey, but lived most of his life in nearby Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In his youth, he was a keen footballer, and he also worked as a teacher. His activism started when he campaigned against the refusal of Brewer Spinks, an employer in Blaenau Ffestiniog, to permit his staff to speak Welsh. Jonny Brownlee
Jonathan Callum Brownlee (born 30 April 1990) is a British professional duathlete and triathlete. He is a six-time World champion (once World Triathlon Series, twice World Sprint Triathlon, three-time World Triathlon Mixed Relay), and one-time Olympic champion (mixed relay) in triathlon. Brownlee was the 2012 Triathlon World Champion, and the silver medallist in 2013 and 2016. Brownlee is also a two-time World Sprint Triathlon Champion when it was held as a separate event between 2010 and 2011. He is the former Under-23 Triathlon World Champion (2010). He won the bronze medal in the individual triathlon at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the silver medal in the same race at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the gold medal in the mixed relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
