John Bluett (cricketer)
John Douglas Jeremy Bluett (29 May 1930 – 23 August 2019) was an English amateur cricketer who played two first-class cricket matches for Kent County Cricket Club in 1950. Bluett was born at Kensington in London, and was educated at Cranbrook School, Kent, captaining the side in his final year when he averaged almost 60 runs per innings.Deaths in 2019, ''Kent County Cricket Club Annual 2020'', p.223. Devon County Cricket Club (Devon Cricket) is one of 20 minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Devon. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Princess Royal University Hospital
The Princess Royal University Hospital or PRUH is a large acute district general hospital situated in Locksbottom, near Farnborough, in the London Borough of Bromley. It is managed by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in the Bromley Union Workhouse Infirmary which was opened on the site in March 1845. A female infirmary block was added in 1898 and two new medical blocks were completed in 1929. A new wing was added in 1936 at which time the facility became the Farnborough County Hospital. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. Incogniti
The Incogniti cricket club was founded in 1861. It claims to be the third oldest "wandering" cricket club – a nomadic cricket club without its own home ground – after I Zingari and Free Foresters (founded in 1845 and 1856 respectively). However, this is inaccurate as the Band of Brothers CC of Kent founded in 1858. The club was founded after a match at Lord's on 25 May 1861, when a scratch team captained by Charles Julius Brune defeated the XYZ Club. It was originally intended that the club would be based at Tufnell Park, but this plan was abandoned and it became a wandering club. The club's colours are purple, black and gold, and its club motto ''Incogniti Incognitis'' (Latin: "unknown only to the unknown") appears on the club's roll of honour on the first landing of the staircase in the pavilion at Lord's. The Forty Club (XL) is an English cricket club, established by Henry Grierson in 1936 and playing its first matches in 1937. Grierson's original intention was to enable good players to enjoy cricket into middle age. Bromley Cricket Club
Bromley Cricket Club was one of the strongest English cricket clubs in the mid-18th century when its team was led by Robert Colchin a.k.a. "Long Robin". Earliest mentions Cricket almost certainly originated in Kent and Sussex so it must have been played in and around Bromley since time immemorial. The first definite mention of the area in a cricket connection is a 1735 match on Bromley Common between a Kent side and London Cricket Club. The report of this match states that "a large crowd attended and a great deal of mischief was done. It seems that horses panicked and riders were thrown while some members of the crowd were ridden over. One man was carried off for dead as HRH passed by at the entrance to the Common". Park Road, Loughborough
Park Road is a cricket ground in Loughborough, Leicestershire. Established along with the formation of Loughborough Town Cricket Club in 1896, the ground first played host to first-class cricket in 1913, when Leicestershire played Nottinghamshire in the County Championship. Leicestershire played at the ground eitherside of the First World War, but did not return until 1933. Leicestershire regularly used Park Road as an outground throughout the 1930s, before the Second World War bought about the suspension of county cricket. Leicestershire resumed playing there after the war and used the ground until 1952, having played fifteen first-class matches there since their first match at the ground in 1913. Leicestershire returned to Park Road 18 years later, playing a List A one-day match there against Nottinghamshire in the 1970 John Player League. Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. It has also been representative of the county of Rutland. The club's limited overs team is called the Leicestershire Foxes. Founded in 1879, the club had minor county status until 1894 when it was promoted to first-class status pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895.
