John Bennewies
John Bennewies (November 20, 1863 – June 22, 1943) was an Ontario farmer and political figure. He represented Perth South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Conservative member from 1914 to 1919. Valentine Stock (June 30, 1852 – 1921) was an Ontario merchant and political figure. He represented Perth South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1902 to 1904 and from 1908 to 1911 as a Liberal member. He was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County, Canada West, the son of Conrad (Johann Konrad) Stock, a German immigrant originally from Wallersdorf, Grebenau, Grand Duchy of Hesse. After suffering an injury working on the family farm, he earned a teacher's certificate and taught school in East Zorra and Tavistock. Peter Smith (May 26, 1877 – May 21, 1934) was a Canadian politician. He was treasurer during the Ontario Bond Scandal. Smith was tried for his role in the scandal following the fall of the UFO government. On October 24, 1924, he was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the government and sentenced to three years. The Province of Canada (or the United Province of Canada or the United Canadas) was a British colony in North America from 1841 to 1867.
