John Barlow (died 1718)
John Barlow (died 1718) was a Welsh politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1715 to 1718. Barlow was the eldest son of John Barlow of Lawrenny and his wife Dorothy Barlow daughter of Thomas Barlow of Haverfordwest. He married Anne Owen, daughter of Sir Hugh Owen, 2nd Bt MP of Orielton, Pembrokeshire. He succeeded his father in 1701. In 1705 he was High Sheriff of Pembrokeshire. In 1715 Barlow stood at a by-election at Haverfordwest and was defeated by a relation, Sir George Barlow of Slebech. John Barlow (novelist)
John Barlow (born 1967) is an English writer. He was born in the Yorkshire village of Gomersal, near Leeds. He studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and has a PhD in Applied linguistics from the University of Hull. He works as a novelist, food writer and translator, and lives in the Galician city of A Coruña (Spain). Barlow's early books could be described as comic historical; they combine elements of farce, black humour, magical realism and folklore in what critics have described as an unusual mixture. They are strongly rooted in his Yorkshire background. More recently Barlow has branched out into children's literature and crime fiction. John Perry Barlow (October 3, 1947February 7, 2018) was an American poet, essayist, cattle rancher, and cyberlibertarian political activist who had been associated with both the Democratic and Republican parties. He was also a lyricist for the Grateful Dead, a founding member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, and an early fellow at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. John Noble Barlow
John Noble Barlow (1861–1917) was a prominent English artist at the turn of the twentieth century, known predominantly as a landscape and seascape painter. Biography John Barlow was born in Manchester, England in 1861. He enrolled at the Académie Julian in Paris, and studied for two years under Jules Joseph Lefebvre, Paul Louis Delance and Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant. Barlow also studied in Belgium, the Netherlands and New York City in the United States. He later emigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen in 1887, although he returned to Europe by 1889. Barlow lived in Providence, Rhode Island, was a member of the Providence Art Club and exhibited at the National Academy of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago. John Henry Barlow (3 October 1855 – 8 August 1924), widely called "the outstanding Quaker statesman of his generation", was an ambassador for peace in the war years and clerk of London Yearly Meeting for seven years. He was the person who most held the Society together at a taxing moment in its history. He was one of the first members of the Friends' Ambulance Unit. Later he served 23 years as the first secretary and general manager of the Bournville Village Trust. In 1920 he led a delegation to Ireland to look into the Black and Tans atrocities. John Brereton Barlow
John Brereton Barlow (24 October 1924 – 10 December 2008) was a world-renowned South African cardiologist. He qualified as a doctor in 1951, gained experience as a registrar in Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London. In the late 1950s he returned to South Africa to Johannesburg Hospital where he became Professor of Cardiology in the research unit and carried out significant studies on cardiac disorders as well as discovering the cause of a well known mitral valve disorder. John Barlow (1815–1856) is best known as a pioneer of veterinary studies and professor at Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh, Scotland. The murders of Gene and Eugene Thomas occurred in Wellington, New Zealand on 16 February 1994. Eugene, 68, and his son Gene, 30, were both investment and insurance brokers and owners of Invincible House at 136 The Terrace in Wellington. John Barlow (November 27, 1872 – November 26, 1944) was an American entomologist and college administrator. For 35 years, he was the chairman of the Zoology Department of Rhode Island State College and was twice (1930–31 and 1940–41) interim president of the college. Early life and education John Barlow was born in Amenia, New York, on November 27, 1872, to Henry Barlow and Helen Cythera (Benton) Barlow. He studied biology at Middlebury College, earning a B.A. degree in 1895, and he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa that same year. He earned his M.A. in biology from Brown University in 1896.
