John Barla is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, lower house of the Parliament of India from Alipurduars, West Bengal in the 2019 Indian general election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since 7 July 2021, he is serving as the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Political career He used to work in the tea gardens of Alipurduar district at the age of 14. After that, he started to raise the voice for the welfare of the tea workers. Alipurduar is a city and a municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Alipurduar district. Situated on the east bank of Kaljani River on the foothills of the Himalayas, the city is a gateway to Bhutan and northeastern states of India. 2019 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to elect the members of the 17th Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 23 May.
