John Antonas
John Antonas (born 12 September 1951) is a Bahamian former professional tennis player. Born in Nassau, Antonas represented the Caribbean at the 1975 Nations Cup (later World Team Cup) and in the Davis Cup from 1975 to 1982. In 1989 he got the opportunity to compete for the Bahamas Davis Cup team as playing captain of the side, which was debuting in the competition. He stayed on as non playing captain throughout the 1990s. Antonas ranked 258 on the professional tour and played collegiate tennis for the University of Alabama. Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau ( ) is the capital and largest city of the Bahamas. With a population of 274,400 as of 2016, or just over 70% of the entire population of the Bahamas, Nassau is commonly defined as a primate city, dwarfing all other towns in the country. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. 1975 Nations Cup (tennis)
The 1975 ATP Nations Cup, sponsored by ''Reynolds Metals'', was a men's team tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the inaugural edition of the World Team Cup and took place in Kingston, Jamaica from 29 September through 5 October 1975. The tournament was played by the eight nations whose players were the highest ranked on the ATP ranking. Each team consisted of two or three players and the prize money for the event was $100,000. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. The ''Montgomery Advertiser'' is a daily newspaper and news website located in Montgomery, Alabama. It was founded in 1829. History The newspaper began publication in 1829 as ''The Planter's Gazette.'' Its first editor was Moseley Baker. It became the ''Montgomery Advertiser'' in 1833. In 1903, Richard F.
