John Ames (politician)
John B. Ames (born January 2, 1983 in Saint John, New Brunswick) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2014 provincial election. He represented Saint Croix as a member of the Liberal Party, but was voted out by the people of Charlotte-Campobello / Saint Croix in the September 24, 2018 election, being replaced by Greg Thompson. He was appointed to the New Brunswick Cabinet on June 6, 2016 where he took on the portfolios of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. He sat on Her Majesty's Executive Council Office in his capacity as Minister of the Crown, serving on various committees. Department Of Tourism, Heritage And Culture
The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture is a department of the government of New Brunswick. It was created in 2001 as the Department of Tourism and Parks from the Business New Brunswick and Department of Investment and Exports. Its mandate promote the province's tourism industry and maintain its official provincial parks. Its mandate was widely expanded in March 2012 when Premier David Alward restructured government. The 2014 New Brunswick general election was held on September 22, 2014, to elect 49 members to the 58th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly, the governing house of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. The 2013 redistribution reduced the size of the legislature from 55 seats to 49.
