Johannes Post
Johannes Post (4 October 1906 – 16 July 1944) was a Dutch resistance leader during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. He helped lead part of the Landelijke Knokploegen and hid Jews in his village, Nieuwlande. Post was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations in 1965. Early life Johannes Post was born on October 4, 1906 in the village of Hollandscheveld. He was the eleventh and youngest child of Jan-Wolters Post and Trijntje Tempen. He attended primary school, and afterwards attended one year of MULO before going to work at his father's company. Post became a farmer in Nieuwlande, alongside being an alderman and councilor in the municipality of Oosterhesselen. He also worked trading eggs, poultry and horses. Hollandscheveld
Hollandscheveld () is a village in the municipality of Hoogeveen, the Netherlands. It was founded in the 17th century after the Hollandsche Compagnie (''Company from Holland'') bought the land to harvest its peat. It was initially named Hollandsche Veld (''Field of the Hollandsche Compagnie'') which was later combined into just Hollandscheveld. During the Second World War, three notorious war criminals lived in Hollandscheveld: Auke Pattist, Dirk Hoogendam and Martinus Johannes van Oort. These men tortured arrested resistance warriors and Jews in a local school. Dirk Hoogendam was sentenced to death after the war, but managed to escape to Germany where he died in 2003. Known resistance heroes Marinus and Johannes Post were born in Hollandscheveld. They were both executed by the Germans in 1944. Groningen (; gos, Grunn; fry, Grinslân) is the northeasternmost province of the Netherlands. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award of the United States, along with the Congressional Gold Medal. It is an award bestowed by the president of the United States to recognize people who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." Hazerswoude-Dorp
Hazerswoude-Dorp is a village in the west of the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, South Holland, about 7 km southwest of the town of Alphen aan den Rijn. Hazerswoude-Dorp is a peat excavation settlement which developed in the Middle Ages. It turned into a linear settlement along the dike on the Oude Rijn. A circular canal was dug around the view to prevent a prolapse of the village. The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled cruciform church. The tower dates from 1646 as a replacement of its medieval predecessor. The church itself was built in 1658. Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Havelte ( Drèents: ''Haovelte'' or ''Haovelt'') is a village in the Northeastern Netherlands.
