Johannes Nesse
Johannes Jeremias Nesse (26 September 1891 – 1 June 1948), often abbreviated in Norwegian as ''Johs. Nesse'', was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He became an editor in '' Aftenposten'' in 1928, and was promoted to editor-in-chief in 1930. In 1941, following the milk strike, Nesse was promptly fired together with Torolv Kandahl Torolv Kandahl (17 August 1899 – 5 March 1982) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and Member of Parliament with the Conservative Party. ( in the masthead; ; Norwegian for "The Evening Post") is Norway's largest printed newspaper by circulation. It is based in Oslo. It sold 211,769 copies in 2015 (172,029 printed copies according to University of Bergen) and estimated 1.2 million readers. It converted from broadsheet to compact format in March 2005. ''Aftenposten''s online edition is at Aftenposten.no. It is considered a newspaper of record for Norway. ''Aftenposten'' is a private company wholly owned by the public company Schibsted ASA. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Torolv Kandahl
Torolv Kandahl (17 August 1899 – 5 March 1982) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and Member of Parliament with the Conservative Party. Biography He was born at Austad (now Lyngdal) in Vest-Agder, Norway. He was the son of Tor Mathias Kandahl (1876-1955) and Sanna Mathilde Torjesen (1877-1969). His father was a school teacher and manager of the local telephone exchange. In 1918, Kandahl received his first job as a journalist in '' Tønsbergs Blad''. In 1919, he went to '' Morgenbladet'', where he was a political journalist until 1922. He obtained his degree in law degree in 1926. In 1928, he was appointed an editor of ''Aftenposten''. Kandahl was chairman of the Norwegian Press Association from 1938. During the Occupation of Norway by Germany, he was deprived of his positions by the occupational power. The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during the Second World War began on 9 April 1940 after Operation Weserübung. Conventional armed resistance to the German invasion ended on 10 June 1940, and Nazi Germany controlled Norway until the capitulation of German forces in Europe on 8 May 1945. Throughout this period, a pro-German government named Den nasjonale regjering (English: the National Government) ruled Norway, while the Norwegian king Haakon VII and the prewar government escaped to London, where they formed a government in exile. Civil rule was effectively assumed by the ''Reichskommissariat Norwegen'' (Reich Commissariat of Norway), which acted in collaboration with the pro-German puppet government. Møllergata 19 is an address in Oslo, Norway where the city's main police station and jail was located. The address gained notoriety during the German occupation from 1940 to 1945, when the Nazi security police kept its headquarters here. This is also where Vidkun Quisling in 1945 surrendered to the legitimate Norwegian government and was imprisoned.
