Johannes Kahrs (born 4 January 1965 in Bremen, West Germany) is an artist based in Berlin. He studied at Hochschule der Künste in Berlin in 1994. Kahrs has shown work internationally in exhibitions including the 2002 Taipei Biennale, Manifesta 5 in San Sebastian, ''In/Site/Out'' at Apex in New York, the 1998 Berlin Biennale and ''Down’n Out'' at Zeno X Gallery in Antwerp. Manifesta
Manifesta, also known as the European Nomadic Biennial, is a European pan-regional contemporary cultural biennale. History Manifesta was founded in 1994 by Dutch art historian Hedwig Fijen. The first edition took place in Rotterdam. One of the coordinators in Rotterdam was Thomas Meyer zu Schlochtern of the Rotterdamse Kunststichting. Among the local artists brought into the international scene, were Jeanne van Heeswijk, Bik Van Der Pol, and Joep van Lieshout. The 2006 edition of Manifesta was set to happen in Nicosia, Cyprus, under the direction of Florian Waldvogel, Mai Abu ElDahab, and Anton Vidokle. In June 2006, Nicosia for Art, the city-run nonprofit organization sponsoring the exhibition, cancelled the event due to political turmoil around the green line of Nicosia. The Luhring Augustine Gallery is an art gallery in New York City. The gallery has three locations: Chelsea, Manhattan, Chelsea, Bushwick, Brooklyn, Bushwick, and Tribeca. Dorothea Von Stetten Art Award
The Dorothea von Stetten Art Award (German: Dorothea von Stetten Kunstpreis) has been awarded biennially since 1984 to an artist under the age of 36 whose work demonstrates interesting perspective and possibilities for advancement. It is not possible to apply for consideration, as an independent nomination committee selects five nominees whose work is then judged by a five strong jury of experts. The jury, which cannot include any person of the nomination committee, has the final decision on who should receive the prize. The award consists of 10,000 euro and an exhibition in the Kunstmuseum Bonn (Bonn Art Museum ), Germany.
