Johan Persson (footballer)
Johan "Sheriffen" Persson (born 20 June 1984) is a Swedish former footballer who played as a midfielder. Career He began his senior career at the Scanian club IFK Hässleholm in the lower divisions, before getting signed by Mjällby AIF in 2006. Two years later he made a switch to Landskrona BoIS in the Swedish second tier, Superettan. Acting as a regular starter on the defensive midfield he made 81 appearances for the side during the following three seasons, managing to score on 10 occasions. In the off season of 2010 he moved abroad for the first time in his career, signing with Esbjerg fB in the Danish Superliga. But Persson failed to make an impact at the team and left by mutual consent a few months later, having played only 6 league games, when his short term-contract ended. He then returned to his native country, signing a long term-deal with Östers IF on 17 July 2011. Östers IF
Östers Idrottsförening, commonly known as Östers IF or simply Öster, is a Swedish sports club located in Växjö, specializing in Association football, football, and playing in the second tier of Swedish football, Superettan. The club has previously also competed in ice hockey (Östers IF (ice hockey), see separate article), bandy, and bowling. Öster was formed on 20 April 1930 as Östers Fotbollförening, before adopting the name "Östers IF" in 1932. The club is affiliated to the Smålands Fotbollförbund. They competed in Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen during the year. League play started in early April and lasted until early November. Jakob Michelsen made his first season as manager. Summary In the off-season, on 18 November 2016, the board chose to sack manager Nanne Bergstrand, citing "a need to get a new voice and new energy into the club's sporting development". They competed in Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen during the year. League play started in early April and lasted until early November. Nanne Bergstrand made his third season as manager. Summary The team had a strong run in the 2015-16 Svenska Cupen. They won against Djurgårdens IF in the group stage, before eliminating their other local rival AIK in the quarter finals after a penalty shoot-out.
