Johan Jørgen Schwartz
Johan Jørgen Schwartz (19 February 1824 – 17 March 1898) was a Norwegian politician and businessperson. Schwartz was born at Drammen in Buskerud, Norway. He was the son of Hans Jürgen Schwartz (1785-1844) and Marie Cathrine Wærner (1803–89). He attended to Drammen Latin School. Schwartz first worked as a merchant in Drammen. He started its own company in 1848 and expanded it into one of the city's largest sawmills, timber trade and shipping company. He was the mayor of Drammen (1862-1866). He sat in the Norwegian Parliament as part of the conservative wing between the period (1857-1876). He was a supporter of railways, and was active in passing Randsfjordbanen, Drammenbanen, Jarlsbergbanen and Vossebanen. He was also director of Norges Bank in Drammen. Schwartz was a co-owner of Eidsfos Verk (1873–79). After an economic crisis, he went bankrupt in 1879 and retired from public business. The Vestfold Line ( no, Vestfoldbanen) is a railway line which runs between Drammen and Eidanger in Norway. The line connects to the Drammen Line at the northern terminus at Drammen Station and continues as the Bratsberg Line past Skien Station. The line is exclusively used for passenger trains, which are provided by the Norwegian State Railways, which connect northwards to Oslo and south-westwards to Grenland. The section from Eidanger to Skien is often colloquially included in the Vestfold Line.The standard gauge line is electrified at and has twelve remaining stations. Eidsfoss
Eidsfoss is a village in Hof municipality, Vestfold county, Norway. It is located near Lake Eikeren. The village was the site of the Eidsfos Iron Works (''Eidsfos Jernverk'') which dated to 1697. The iron works was closed in 1873. The village is also the location of the historic Eidsfos Manor (''Eidsfos Hovedgård'') where the owners and manager of the iron works maintained residence for over 250 years. The manor house, which reflects both Renaissance and Baroque architecture, dates from approximately 1750. Eidsfos Verk
Eidsfos Verk ( en, Eidsfos Iron Works) was an ironworks located at Eidsfoss in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. Eidsfos Verk was established in 1697 when the first blast furnace was first put into operation. The ironwork, which was dependent on hydropower, ore and forest, was located on the isthmus between Eikeren and the Bergsvannet. It was established and operated by Lieutenant General Caspar Herman Hausmann (1653–1718) and later his widow Karen Toller (1662-1742). In 1785 the works were acquired by merchant Peder von Cappelen (1763-1837). The owners had a seat on Eidsfos Manor (''Eidsfos Hovedgård''), which was their private residence until 1897. The Bergen Line or the Bergen Railway ( no, Bergensbanen or nn, Bergensbana), is a long scenic standard gauge railway line between Bergen and Hønefoss, Norway. The name is often applied for the entire route from Bergen via Drammen to Oslo, where the passenger trains go, a distance of . The Drammen Line ( no, Drammenbanen) is a railway line between Oslo and Drammen, Norway, which was opened on 7 October 1872. It serves all trains west of Oslo Central Station and is owned by Bane NOR. The line opened as a narrow gauge railway, and rebuilt to standard gauge between 1913 and 1922. The line was electrified in 1922, as the first line on the national network to be electrified. The Lieråsen Tunnel shortened the line in 1973, and in 1980 the Oslo Tunnel was built, allowing the line to connect to the new Oslo Central Station. The Asker Line runs parallel to the Drammen Line, mostly in tunnels. At Drammen, the Vestfold Line branches off to the south while the Bergen Line and the Sørlandet Line continue together to Hokksund along the Randsfjorden Line. The Randsfjorden Line ( no, Randsfjordbanen) is an railway located in Viken county in Norway connecting Drammen to Hønefoss and Hadeland in Innlandet county. The railway is primarily used for passenger trains, and the only scheduled trains on the stretch are Norwegian State Railways express trains on the Bergen Line between Oslo and Bergen.
